Huntelaar Crunch Talks Scheduled For Next Week

Highly coveted Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has revealed that a meeting has been scheduled for next week in order to discuss his future at the club.

The 24-year-old has attracted a long list of admirers on the strength of all the goals he has scored for Ajax over the past two seasons, with Real Madrid believed to be heading the cue of top clubs which is also said to include the likes of Manchester United and AC Milan.

Huntelaar, who surpassed the one-hundred Eredivisie goals mark on the weekend, insists that he is yet to receive a single formal offer, however.

"There has been no club that has come in for me, my agent or Ajax. Even from Manchester United. The clubs that are being talked about are the major European ones, but it is still not an issue," said Huntelaar.

"Next week, I will talk with Ajax about my future, we'll see what happens."

The Dutch international, who is said to be rated at £18m (€22.8m), has already gone on record as saying that it will need a very special offer for him to consider leaving Ajax.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has further fuelled talk of a summer move to Serie A by declaring his love for everything in Italy barring the traffic.

In an interview with Calcio 2000, Huntelaar was first asked who he would have rather played with in attack with out of former Ajax heroes Marco Van Basten, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Johan Cruyff.

"There is only one answer I can give,” he said.

“He has just signed a contract for four years with Ajax. This means that next season, after the summer, he will be our new coach. He is currently the boss of the national team. With these two important premises, my response can only be Marco Van Basten.”

'The Hunter'

Huntelaar was then asked if he had a nickname, given the Italian peninsula’s love for all things catchy. "I do not have a real nickname,” he noted

“Journalists usually call me "The Hunter", playing on my name, even if sincerely I prefer that people simply call me Klaas-Jan.”

Finally Huntelaar was asked what he liked and disliked about Italy.

"I was only once in Italy for pleasure,” he revealed.

“I was in Rome about a year and a half ago. We rented a scooter and toured the city - it was beautiful. I saw beautiful places.

“I love your country’s cuisine, the atmosphere, the people. In short, I love everything!

“I have not been anywhere else in Italy, but my first and only impression was very positive. Although the traffic was very chaotic for Dutch standards!”

:D he likes italy but not the trafiic, about rome that would be a perfect place for him. the city and the team but do roma have the money?

I'm suprised anybody can drive in Italy, especially parking.. I dont know if its the same with the rest of Europe but i think Italians are the worst parkers on earth.. Especially in Rome, they park like 2cm away from eachother and when trying to get out the driver will bump the car behind him and in front of him like 3 times each to manouver his way out

Parking isn't the problem. The problem is keeping your car in one peace while it's parked.

Also driving is heaven in Italy as long as you've got a fast car, everybody gets out of your way when you are aproaching fast. In Holland people tend to drive on the left lane of the highway with 100 km per hour, holding everybody back......
Now that's annoying!

Lol not if your crusing around in Nonna's shittly little beast.. In anycase it must be better driving in Holland than Napoli where u play dodge the rubbish hahaha Ive never been to Holland but i hear Amsterdam is particulary loose

Holland is hit, the average speed is 10 mph because of all the traffic-jams.

Amsterdam is one of the hardest places to drive because of all the bikes and trams and the weird regulation that comes with. But I've driven in Amsterdam and in Rome, but Rome is in a league of it's own.

well if he doesn't like traffic he won't like turin, Fiat's from there. and has anyone seen the traffic jam scene from the italian job the OLD one? (not the new one which is shocking). Turin even has a test track on a roof of a building. Huntelaar would go mental in turin. :D

Huntelaar In Ajax Extension Talks

Danny Blind won’t assume his new duties as the Ajax manager of technical affairs until May 15, but it seems that he’s already working on keeping Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at the club.

The lethal striker and Ajax’s most prized asset has a contract in Amsterdam until June 30, 2010, but after yet another impressive season he could well be on his way in the summer, having attracted the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Roma and possibly Barcelona.

Harmonious talks

However, Sportweek reports that an Ajax delegation has begun negotiations with Huntelaar’s agent, Arnold Oosterver, hoping to hold on to the 24-year-old international and team vice-captain at least for another season.

“Talks are proceeding in harmony,” Ajax managing director Henri van der Aat has told the weekly magazine. In order to convince Huntelaar, Ajax are offering him the chance to leave them for a reasonable fee in the summer of 2009.

Youth idols to play a part

Whether they will succeed or not remains to be seen, even though the former PSV Eindhoven, De Graafschap and Heerenveen star has hinted that working together with Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp is a tempting prospect.

“That’s true, I admire them for what they have achieved,” Huntelaar said in an interview with Ajax Life fanzine. “As a striker, I’d like to work with the crème de la crème, two former stars from whom I could learn a lot. It is a possibility and that prospect could certainly influence my decision.”

Huntelaar has scored a breathtaking 96 goals in 119 Ajax appearances and another six in 11 Netherlands outings, a record he’s certainly hoping to build on in the European Championship, in Van Basten’s last games in charge of the national side.
