i think our chances of Huntelaar are over now...looks like it is gonna be Gilardino or Amauri :(...or most probably no-one at all
Didn't we have a first-option to buy on Huntelaar?
In that case we can still snub Real.

why are we looking for more strikers ...

we need defenders and neddy's long term replacement, dont we?
I think we do need Huntelaar. We only have 3 real strikers now, of wich 2 are on the wrong end of 30. If Iaquinta gets injures, we're fucked, cause DP and Trez cannot play all games in 3 competitions.

I dont think theres any kind of agreement with Ajax regarding first-option, well at least nothing confirmed by either club.. Oh and youre forgetting Palladino who in my book is a foward first and foremost

Even when you count in Palla, I think we need Huntelaar. The Hunter is a goal poacher like Trez, Palla isn't anything like that. Like Trez, Huntelaar is an guarantee for goals. Palla isn't.
The upcoming years, we'll only see less of both Trez and DP, so why wouldn't we cover for them allready. If we don't, we'll get into the same shit with our strikers as we are now with the positions of Nedved and Camo.

But if we don't have any kind of agreement, it'll be hard to get him, I agree.

I don't think Huntelaar will join a team to be backup for anyone, the guy is almost 24 or so, he wants to play, he won't join Juve to be backup for Trez, getting Huntelaar would mean saying bye to Trez, else, it won't happen.

Well. he won't be backup when coming here, We'll play many, many games next season, with an old DP and a (sometimes) injury prone Trez, and a trainer that likes to ply 3 strikers. He'll have plenty of playing time I guess.

And besides, if he doesn't want to be a backup, why would he join Real? Van Nistelrooij isn't going anywhere this summer.

I don't think he is headed for Madrid either, I see him joining an EPL team if he leaves Ajax.
I do think you are right, he might play more matches here then for any other big club he'll join, although he might get much playing time at ManU also.
IMO, he would work well with Rooney, better then Tevez and surely better then Saha, who might leave ManU during the summer since he isn't getting much playing time.

Are they interested in him?
I do belive we'll regret not signing him when we lose out on him, if he is at a big club in one of the bigger leagues, I see him ending up with the golden boot next year. I'll even put money on that.
