Juve hatch Huntelaar swoop

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus have an option on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s heir – Ajax starlet Klaas Jan Huntelaar – according to today’s European newspapers.

Reports in several nations suggest that Arsenal had an approach for the 23-year-old forward rejected because he already has an agreement in place with Juve.

It’s claimed that the Bianconeri have offered £8m, just under Ajax’s price-tag of £10m, and the money will be raised by the probable summer sale of want-away stars Mauro Camoranesi and David Trezeguet.

Juventus have a strong rapport with the Dutch club, having taken Ibrahimovic in a surprise swoop in 2004.

Huntelaar has been compared to Ibra for his power and eight – 1.86m – but is already far more prolific than the Swede at this stage.

Still only 23 years of age, he netted 33 goals in the Dutch League last season and has already netted 17 in 27 this term, added on to his nine in as many Champions League and UEFA Cup matches.

Huntelaar shot to fame in the European Under-21 Championships, where he was voted Player of the Tournament.

Juventus have already snapped up another Ajax starlet, Czech international defender Zdenek Grygera, while Bayern Munich’s Hasan Salihamidzic has also penned a Bosman deal

Exactly.

Someone before said exactly what I feel when I watch Huntelaar. It's like watching a younger version of Trezeguet in an Ajax shirt. If everything goes well, we have a new Trez - DP partnership upfront: Huntelaar - Palladino. A scoring machine in the box and a technical master behind him. Sounds good.
I agree about Huntelaar, but Palladino IMO isnt exactly DP's type!
I didnt watch him, but from what I've seen...I dont think he has the skills of dribbling like Alex!

I there is a deal in place Juve may have already given them a few million as a down payment to guarantee first option. But yes the price does seem low cos Ajax paid about £6m for him so I would think they would be looking for between £12-15m.

Huntelaar to Juve
Arsenal wanted him, but Ajax stopped them cold
Too late, he’s already pledged to the Bianconeri
