Queiroz hoping for Real-United final

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz is dreaming of a Champions League final with his former club Manchester United.

Queiroz, who quit as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson to take over at Real earlier this year, hopes for a reunion with United at the final in Gelsenkirchen at the end of the season.

He is glad his club is paired with Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League, saying: 'The worst opponents would have been Juventus or Manchester United. That would have been worse than Bayern.'

Queiroz, speaking in an interview with Marca, admitted what he is really hoping for is a final against United.

'It would be a beautiful dream, fantastic to have Real Madrid and Manchester in final,' he said.

'I want this final.'

Queiroz is delighted, meanwhile, with the way his fellow former United employee David Beckham has settled in at the Bernabeu Stadium.

'His willingness to learn has been tremendous,' he said.

'Each game at every training session he looks, listens and learns something new.

'I am not surprised by his physical and technical qualities playing in the centre even though he has played on the right since he was 16.

'With the status he had it was not easy to say `now you have to change position' but he was the first one to want to learn a new position.

'His character and willingness have been tremendous. He has not feared from day one the feeling of being lost in a strange country. I am happy with the way he has started.'

glenn, i agree im too young and its unfortunate my first memory of a juve-mu match was the one where we were leading 2-0 and MU scored 3. it was the semis i think, bloody hell.

at least queiroz had the decency to mention juve as one of the worst opponents ;)

Sally you're too young and don't probably remember all the times we defeat MU in the late 90s ;) Before last season, MU feared us, but thanks to those flued matches they thik they are superior now :)

Yeah Stu Ferrari is better and is alrady Italy NT material. Though if both come I would not complain (but I doubt it) :)
I live in the part of Manchester where Man Utd is nothing less than a 'religion' as my red donning friends proudly devote themselves to. Last season's Champions League nightmare against Utd was probably the low point of my year..it's a wonder to this day how I kept myself out of fighting and let me assure you of this; Utd fans are the most arrogant and biased fans the world of football has to offer - the English on a whole are bad at this, but especially when they wear the red to support at club level.
This is coming from a guy with first-hand experience on the matter, so please keep your appraisals to Fergie's team to yourself because there is absolutely no chance fans in Manchester are going round the table at Euro contenders and pointing out their strengths..
Anyway, I'm sure that Juve will progress far in this campaign - if we play the way we did against Real Madrid in the semi's second leg; we are INVINCIBLE.

it could also be down to the fact that they won on penalties.whenever i bring up the 96' CL,my friends dispute that a penalty shootout win is never as glamorous(to which i somehow do agree).

besides, they didn't exactly dominate the match.
