I really didn't think it was one, Chiellini touched the ball and Vidal got in infront of Kondogbia.

Although I was still panicking that the ref would give it, he loves to give dodgy penalties.

We probably will switch to 4312 when we want to properly start attacking later in the 2nd. It was pretty obvious mission in the 1st was just to hold the fort.

I think we should credit the team for delivering defensively. Risky but we were focussed except chiellini. And we shouldnt underplay monacos strength. At this stage everyone deserves to be here due to their own merit.

Thing is, would have probably been better to start with a 4-3-1-2, score and THEN move to the 3-5-2 to lock the game down. I can't see Allegri changing formations, unless we're in a losing position

We're so lucky that Chiellini's still on the pitch. Besides him I don't really think any of our players stood out in a bad way. Sure, some looked bad from time to time, but that's impossible to avoid when you choose this approach to the match. And I don't get the Pirlo hate. He had a few brilliant moments in the first half, and no terrible ones. Sure, he's slow in defense, but that's Pirlo.

This, apart from individual performances, is the biggest problem.

You don't see Marchisio. Pirlo is sitting very deep, leaving a hole in the mid (he has to do this since he isn't fast enough to move and trace back). Vidal is the one trying to defend for 3 guys there.

We must fill in the midfield.

One point i would like to make to the rest of the forum now is Monaco's intensity will drop a lot as the 2nd half goes as they wont be able to keep up their pressing like they did in the first half. The longer we keep it at 0-0 the better as we will be able to take control of the game about 15 minutes in to the 2nd half.

That tactics might work in the league both not in the CL in this days of age..
