This game feels like last season.Dire in attack,uncomfortable in defense.

Pirlo and Chiellini have been crap.

I think this is where we miss Pereyra where he's really good at getting the ball out of defense.Our counter-attackng improves ten fold with him on the pitch.

Chiellini clearly isn't fit for big games he always feck up in a way or another. Switch to 4-3-1-2 with Barzagli-Bonucci and Pereyra giving us some dribbling as we can't make a pass at all

I meant his balls forward have been decent to good. No one is making good runs to get on the end of them.

He's been abysmal in our half. But up the pitch he's put 3 good balls forward that caught our players standing still.

I mean Pirlo and Pereyra both have different characteristics. Pereyra will offer pace as he dribbles thru the line and willl be useful provided he doesnt get shut down, whereas Pirlo is the one with that unique pass that catches monaco out of position bt this will only work if our other players can read it.

Monaco are playing so much better and want it so more tag us.
Would have been a nice troll to score just before HT but so far this match is giving me a headache.
I hope we are able to continue the last five minutes and Pirlo is able to reach someone for once

I think he managed to connect one of those passes to Licht which their GK blocked.

That last "pass" to Tevez near the end of the half was just disgraceful.

He isn't being helped by a lack of movement around him, but has still played a few passes which got us in behind their defence or midfield.

Chiellini has been terrible.

We need to be more direct up front, if we are going to sit back and hit on the break then when we get near the box we need to go for it instead of stopping, passing side to side and backwards., to lose it with a bad pass after committing numbers forward.

and we always leave a spot just outside the box for Kondogbia to try a shoot. Every time we can't go on with the full Catenaccio without even holding it up there with Tevez or Morata. Specially Tevez is failing in too many things

We probably will switch to 4312 when we want to properly start attacking later in the 2nd. It was pretty obvious mission in the 1st was just to hold the fort.

I think we should credit the team for delivering defensively. Risky but we were focussed except chiellini. And we shouldnt underplay monacos strength. At this stage everyone deserves to be here due to their own merit.

One point i would like to make to the rest of the forum now is Monaco's intensity will drop a lot as the 2nd half goes as they wont be able to keep up their pressing like they did in the first half. The longer we keep it at 0-0 the better as we will be able to take control of the game about 15 minutes in to the 2nd half.
