Overreaction to Vidal in here. He has played great apart from being infront of goal. We are so used to him acting like a striker infront of goal that we are quick to criticize him.

The truth is his game is slowly coming back into form. First his athleticism has returned, then his defensive capabilities. Finally his play in possession with short passing and ball control has improved from the start of the year. But his finishing has not recovered so far.

He stepped up his game with time, he was complete rubbish at the beginning though. So many wrong passes.

Licht is not good enough offensive wise to play at this level, we need a replacment soon, our limited fullbacks are realy becoming an hindernce to our progression

Not great, but he hasn't been as abysmal as people here think.

And selling him would only make sense if we'd get comfortably more than 40 millions, which we probably won't.

We had a really ropey spell which was brought about mostly from Pirlo passing to nowhere, which is suicide in a CL QF, but other than that this is basically what I expected. They are very rigid in their shape at the back, and obviously have speed and directness on the counter. The way you beat a team like this is quality width, or a moment of magic. We don't have the former unless Pereyra comes wide, because Evra is only decent and Lichtsteiner is one of the worst deliverers of a ball at any kind of high level, but we did make two perfect chances from great football, and still blew it.

Basically at this stage of the competition the ties are decided by taking chances, and both teams have fluffed it, 2 to 1 so far.

Seriously, Vidal is far from our problem, the biggest problems are Pirlo and Lichsteiner. But that being mentioned it is missing such chances is what makes one really worried because they get to bite you back.

people keep saying we need someone to unlock the Monaco defense: we had that pass to Tevez and the pass to Vidal that ripped them apart and sent us in on goal and each time we choked.

If we lose or miss points today it will be because we didn't take advantage of two amazing opportunities NOT because we couldn't unlock the defense.

Oh, that Pereyra run and pass into the box that no one was there except evra who hit a field goal. 3 good chances.

This is what I said. He's been excellent today. His finishing is poor. But the fact he's getting himself in place to have those chances again, and his fantastic tackling and defensive performance this match, more than makes up for it.

Terrible luck for us there. The ball bounced right before Tevez hit it. Vidal has no excuses, though. After the excellent first touch, he had the needed time for a good finish.
His technique striking a ball this season is just abysmal. Last year that is perfectly in the net.

Horrible between the 10th and 22nd minute, but after that it's been all Juve.

The chances Tevez, Evra and Vidal got were great, and we need to put those away. Particularly Vidal's chance was big.

Monaco are a WALL. Playing provincially, defending with 10 men. Hopefully we can continue to neutralize their fierce counterattacks and get our goal. Forza Juve :flag2:

And stop hating on Vidal. Apart from a couple of poor passes, he's been playing very well. Most of his passes have been good, and he's won the ball on several occasions. Great run into the box to get that big chance he got, too.
