What the hell is going on with our mercato? Diego was in Del Neri's plan until 2 days ago when His Hoeness appears in Turin and all of a sudden he's in the middle of a bidding war between Wolfsburg & Shalke.

With a little less 3 weeks (?) left in the transfer window we're still shy of a winger, a LB, and a CM. Dzeko is apparently not for sale though he's publicly spoken out against his team twice now...will that have any affect on Wolfburgs management? Who knows.

The Krasic deal was far away until we gave up on Dzeko and suddenly he was only days away. Then there were reports that he had reached contract agreement with us and that all that remained were the negotiations between the teams. But here we are and there's no news.

What have you heard and what are the different possible scenarios you guys see?

The only reasonable thing for me looks sticking to Diego and denying his transfer (which we're NOT doing for some odd reason). It'd be kinda weird to see him leave in the mid August when he already played many matches (and which is one of the reasons I believe he'll stay).

On the other side, our mercato this year is waaaaaay too slow, especially considering how many players we have to buy. Things went wrongly when we said we'll not buy until we sell. I guess it's very hard to sell our players who didn't preform well last season.

We should see at least 2 deals clinched until Sunday so we'd still have time to negotiate for others. Still, may God help us now.

I just don't understand the point of shipping out so many central midfielders to feed our loan and co-own addiction while not having a proper replacement lined up. Now we will have to purchase another CM unless Tiago is going to be used as the 4th guy.

It doesn't appear as if we are going to get all the improvements we need. The LB slot is perhaps the most important unless DN is set on DC, but even then we won't be satisfied with that.

Three scenarios come to mind.

1) Dzeko for Diego swap, no Krasic, cheap CM and LB brought in.

2) Diego sold outright, Krasic bought, CM and LB brought in.

3) Diego kept, no capital for Dzeko or Krasic, but CM, LB and another position is filled.

adding to this, camoranesi wont go to birmingham, so another rock in marottas garden. But still, unless there is even a second in the transfer market time, i believe in my juve. We'll rock!

After last season and Agnelli entering I had high hopes and really thought we'd have an excellent mercato this summer with some impressive signings, not end up selling Diego.

I haven't watched much of Juve's pre season or CL qualifying games, but i am guessing Diego has been deployed as a support striker in DN's 4-4-2, am I right? How well did he do there? Perhaps DN thinks he's not as effective when not playing in his favored position.

he was passing rather than shooting. Thats probably the issue for SS. Even a support striker has to shoot, has to score. Although his passing and assist is geniune

I guess so, but he also said that Diego-Amauri is his best partnership. It's all a bit odd, and nobody has said a word about Diego since all of these rumours have come out. I really wonder who we'll end up with if we were to sell Diego, as we'd really get stuck playing a flat 442 with little creativity unless we actually sign several really good midfielders/wingers.

Oh well, atleast 442 is in our DNA, so I shouldn't be too worried. :seven:

Fireworks in the last week. Ibra style right to the very end...that's what I think is going to happen.

i dont see any differences between playing him as SS instead of his usual trequartista role...and i do believe that he fits perfectly in our formation...

If Diego can play well as a supporting striker then it really wouldn't make sense to sell him. Unless his sale would mean someone like Cassano coming in, plus a left winger.

Who is going to play on the left btw? If its one of Martinez, DC or Lanfazame, then that is pretty poor and you guys will need a left winger too.

You know what really bothers me about Diego? Not holding anything against him in regards to his first season form...his first touch is horrible! Can't count the amount of times he's given away the ball due to his poor first touch.
