I go around San Francisco bars ordering amari now and then, and 19 times out of 20 the bartenders look at me like I am from Mars.

A front-page story of the Wine section in today's SF Chronicle now says amari are suddenly "trendy" here:

As a bartender, I would like to express my support for the San Fran bartenders as I would react in exactly the same way.

And as for whisky drinking, you must remember that the requirement to drink until you pass out only applies on days which end with the letter 'Y'.

Imo Whiskey is for the slightly older crowd(except Scottish people), correct me if i'm wrong, but most people begin drinking Whiskey regularly at about age 30 if i'm not mistaken, especially neat like :malt:
