I avoided beer like a plague in my first drinking year. I tried one and I was disgusted. Then it started getting expensive for me to drink only stuff like whiskey, vodka, etc., while everyone else was drinking cheap ol' beer. So I forced myself to drown 3 beers in a row...and life was never the same. True story, my friends say I eat beer now, not drink it.

Don't know if this source is at all reliable but anyway.. But speaking from personal experience, it really is different drinking it with a straw. You get some sort of pressure while sipping, almost makes you vomit. It's not like, drink 2 beers and you will get pissed but it will make you drunk faster.
