Juventus Pondering Miccoli Return
Italian giants Juventus are considering bringing Fabrizio Miccoli back to Turin. The idea is to reinforce the Vecchia Signora’s attack in a potential return to Serie A given the sharp performances that the number 30 has been putting on in Portugal – when he’s not injured.
The Serie B team had renewed a year-long loan agreement to the Portuguese Encarnados, but parallel to this Miccoli had also signed on for another four years with the Old Lady. Sporting Director Alessio Secco revealed the interest to Portuguese daily ‘O Jogo’ (The Game).
“The fact that we are following the player closely is normal. He is a Juventus player and, as such, is submitted to a series of observations by various members of the coaching staff. We’ve been following Miccoli in the same way we follow all our loaned out players”, he began.
“Miccoli is a great player – a footballer of international quality and we have to weigh up the potential benefits of renewing the loan deal or ‘repatriating’ Fabrizio”, he added. “Only at the end of the current season will a definite decision be taken as to if he’s to return to Juventus, or if he’ll continue on loan to Benfica or another club.”
Miccoli’s agent, Francesco Caliandro, guarantees “Miccoli is happy and has settled in well tolife in Lisbon and at Benfica”, he stressed. “Being at Benfica is an important step in his career as he’s played the Portuguese league and also has had a chance to play the Champions League while Juventus could not.”
