As usual I don't see the point in spending money on players who will feature very rarely in our season; Giannichedda and Blasi are adequate as far as subs are concerned, as long as they only get as many games as their abilities warrant (which IMO they do, for the most part). Giannichedda in particular offers the neccessary experience I like in my bench players (particularly defensive ones). If Blasi's ineptness proves too big a problem we always have Tacchinardi.

Emerson and Vieira aren't too injury prone either so I doubt they'll be seeing alot of down time.

But the future of Tacchi is still unknown. I don't know if Villarreal will buy him at a permanent basis. I think Zanetti will be coming to Juve pretty soon since he has refused a contract renewal.

I don't really understand why we have to bring in a new midfielder as to priority. Emerson and Vieira will play 90% of next season's matches anyway, and I'm quite happy with Blasi and Giannichiedda as subs.

I'm ok with Gianni, but definitely a no-no for Blasi

Wouldn't it be smart to invest in a replacement for Vieira or Emerson; someone who could learn playing under their wings and take their place when neccessary? Emerson doesn't have many seasons left in him and we will need some sort of replacement within the next two years...why not invest in such a player before we find ourselves in trouble? Combine this with the pathetic option of Blasi off the bench and it's a no brainer IMO.

i would bring in toure and possibly a midfielder who can be offensive whilst playing in a 4-4-2. a name such as bresciano for example who i think could be a good versitile backup player.

Well, what we lack in midfield is a player, who can create the game from a deeper position. Someone who can come from the bench and organize the game. Liverani would be up for grabs and I really like this player. Don't know much about Diarra, but he seems to be an ordinary def. mid, and we have a few of this sort.

Of course that'd be a welcome bonus. But our priorities lie elsewhere, namely a new centreback and a replacement for Nedved. Knowing Moggi, would he spend money to buy players for a position which is supposedly our strongest and in which we only recently acquired two other players namely Vieira and Giannichedda? Nobody is disputing the fact that Diarra is indeed a better player than Blasi and Gianni, but for the amount of money he'd cost we could get players who'd serve the team's current needs better IMO. Unless another irresistible deal like Marchionni comes along, we're probably better off investing our resources elsewhere until next season. If somehow we are able to buy the players we need and have enough left over for Diarra then I'd be all for it.

Also there is the issue of whether Diarra is willing to sit on the bench for at least the next two seasons. He is a hot prospect and he knows it; chances are he'd get more opportunities to prove himself in a team without two of the world's best defensive midfielders.

Alright, we all need to get something straight. Just because Emerson and Vieira are on our squad, doesn't mean that Diarra would be a back-up or sit the bench. There is such a thing as competition for places. If Diarra is as good as he's talked up to be, then he'll earn a spot in the line-up. Simple as that.

Yes of course. But that doesn't change the fact that we have more urgent needs in other departments, it makes no sense to spend our summer budget just to give Emerson and Vieira a little competition for their spots in the team when we have players who need replacing.

Its all about prioritizing since we're not exactly going to start splashing cash on any and every player who could be of some use to us.
