The Bianconeri experienced the strange sensation of being matched by their opponents during Saturday night’s showdown at Juventus Stadium.
Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni used the pre-match build-up to express his desire for three points in Turin, and his team embodied their manager’s positive attitude throughout, shading Juventus possession wise (51%) and lining up with a bold three-pronged attack.
The Nerazzurri also managed to limit the impact of Andrea Pirlo. The midfielder usually heads up the completed passes index, but found himself on 49, four below leader Chiellini, following an uncharacteristically quiet night in the Bianconeri midfield.
Both teams had a total of 14 shots on goal, with Juventus testing Handanovic on seven occasions, while Inter made Buffon work five times.
Leading the way in attacking the visitors’ goal were Marchisio and Vidal on three shots apiece, followed by Pirlo and Quagliarella with two each. Cassano had the most efforts for Stramaccioni’s men (3), but was the only Nerazzurri frontman not to get his name on the scoresheet.
