The Bianconeri were once again left to rue their misfortune after seeing a deserved victory snatched from their grasp for the second time in the space of seven days.
After Lazio pounced in the closing stages to snatch a 1-1 draw in Tuesday night’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg, this time it was Genoa who upset the odds by pegging back Fabio Quagliarella’s opener before hanging on for a share of the spoils.
The supremacy of Antonio Conte’s men in a one-sided affair at Juventus Stadium is also confirmed by the statistics.
The Bianconeri had 64% possession and completed 73.9% of their passes attempted. They went for goal on a total of 16 occasions, with eight of these efforts testing Sebastian Frey between the posts. In contrast, Genoa managed an total of eight shots on goal, with only two of these calling Gigi Buffon into action.
Individually speaking, Leonardo Bonuccci and the Rossoblu’s Juraj Kucka had the most goalscoring attempts for their respective sides, three apiece. They are followed by a host of Bianconeri on two strikes: Arturo Vidal, Mirko Vucinic, Sebastian Giovinco and Fabio Quagliarella.
