Juventus and Chievo faced each other in eight championship games. Six victories for the Bianconeri, two draws and no win for the side from Verona.

All victories achieved against Chievo weren’t anything but easy, as the first fixture of 2001/02 season confirmed. It was indeed the most involving match among those contested. It was a really special clash which saw both sides at the top of the table and face each other in the third game of the championship. Moreover, the Gialloblu were surprisingly two goals in front thanks to a double from Marazzina who first took advantage of Buffon’s mistake and then transformed an extremely effective action started with two consecutive heels. However, Lippi’s men immediately reacted, and at the end of the first half they managed to restore the balance thanks to a wonderful volley shot from Tacchinardi and Tudor’s header. After the break, Marcelo Salas entered the scoresheet by scoring from the penalty spot, thus giving Juventus the exclusive lead of the table.

In 2002/03 season, the game was even more fascinating. Juventus got on the pitch to honour their 27th Scudetto. Chievo instead needed points to achieve a UEFA position. But the side from Veneto didn’t manage to get it despite Olver Berhoff’s hat trick. Juventus overcame their opponents 4-3.

In 2004, former Verona player Mauro German Camoranesi was the match winner: he scored just after ten minutes, thus living again the first historic Serie A derby which occurred between Chievo and Hellas and which saw him on the scoresheet.

In the following season, Fabio Capello confirmed the positive tradition. The 3-0 result was the sharpest difference throughout the history of direct encounters, clinched thanks to goals from Zalayeta, Nedved and Ibrahimovic.

The clash occurred in 2005/06 season saw David Trezeguet be decisive with a header after 36 minutes, which paved the way towards the 29th title. Just to statistics purpose, the Bianconeri’s last victory also occurred on the occasion of the championship opening game in 2009/10, with a winning header from Iaquinta following Diego’s free kick.
