Pray tell. What do you look for in a technical director to stand out in?
At a club like Juve? Preferably not someone who spent 2 years at Nottingham forest and overlooked a Monza side that accepted relegation half way through the season and somewhat responsible for the hiring of some really baffling choice of managers post Palladino.
I mean I'd like to know the other candidates, surely they cant have been as unproven?

I didnt ask you for Notts forrest and Monza CV. I asked you specifically, what do you look in a technical director?

Aka what is the exact tasks you think they do, that you noticed as an outsider, where you feel comfortableating enough to deem him incompetent?

Unproven I can give you, but I'm curious how you can judge a technical director you never heard of, when you dont seem fully clear with what their job tasks are? (And if you are, how do you know what technical director did in minor clubs) Does it involve choice of manager? In those specific clubs he worked in? Since hierarchies are different from club to club.

P.S Everyone starts out at lower clubs in these types of jobs, unless you a former player alumni getting a job as soon as you retire. Like Johnny Evans becoming loan manager the second he retired for Man U.

I'd like to have seen some proof of success in creating some form of club identity, organisational culture, perhaps even some evidence of their people skills.

It is already suggested he may have involvement in the scouting side of things which again worries me.

Whilst I get people start lower down, I don't see any evidence to given his somewhat rather limited CV to suggest this is a suitable candidate at a club with all due respect is much bigger than Monza and Nottingham Forest, for the reasons I've already given.

I'd really like to have given to Tognozzi (especially as he's not going to Arsenal now), there are a number of stories of how he persuaded the likes of Soule and Yildiz to Juve, the sort of human qualities that I feel would be suited to a technical director, and even more qualified if he were to be involved in the scouting side of things as suggested with Modesto. Whilst he will be already familiar with the Juve environment.

You haven't really given reasons tho? Just said technical director in smaller club can't do a technical director job in bigger one, because of that alone? When you not really aware of what the job entails or what those he worked for think of him?

to play devils advocate: Maybe he was part of the foundation of Notts current success? Did his job well despite Monza meagre results etc, how would you know?

I was kinda with you until you mentionned Tognozzi. Do you realize that's entirely different job and skillset he is after?

Tognozzi is a talent scout, head scout, who wants to be a sport director. DS.

This job is DT, Technical director, the job is being a liaison of the club's staff, hiring and developing staff, operational process being smooth, strategic admin role, semi culture builder etc. Helps out in some recruitment aspects, but far from A key role in those aspects (These are all aspects of the job not easily noticeable to outsiders to judge, unless investigate their progress). Coaching hires mainly DOF/GM and player hires more for a DS.

P.S I am just trying to make the point in too many words, no need to speak absolutely when we dont really know these people in minor roles. Because DT is a minor role in grand scheme of things, in the sporting sense of the word. Admin and exec wise, is a team player, not main decision maker.

Ok granted.

With respect to Nottingham Forest (For the sake of future reference, don't call them Notts, Forest fans don't take too kindly to being confused with their city rivals Notts County :p)

hard to take you laurel and hardy seriously when you both were also pro guintoli
I was never pro Junktoli, infact I was thread banned for months because I was so outspoken about him from the start.
