mate, optimistic is the only way to think now. Moggi has not only screwed up last summer in the market, but again in january. if he thought about our ageing defence this time last season, we may have had a ferrari or mexes already and only maybe one or two defenders would have to come in. now, moggi has to make dramatic changes all at once.

and whats going to be bad is that moggi will concentrate on our defence and forget that nedved is 33 years old and that we lack creativeness in midfield. So, he'll fix the defence, neglect the midfield and probably bring in one young gun striker.

its always the way, one area of our team is always neglected each transfers market period.

am I the only one who thinks Stam isn´t that good ? There are 100´s better defenders out there, Stam is slow, has vitually no technic or ball control, all he can do are headers.
We should sign Trabelsi and Ferrari. And as I said, get Mexes, and we are set on defense for 5 years.

i disagree.

stam is a very solid stopper if the ball.he has a great amount of vision and has the ability to see things happen before they actually do.none of our defenders seem to possess this any more.

he's as comfortable on the ball as any other defender.he's very careful with the ball and rarely ever gives it away.

the only problems are age and pace.

I've had my doubts about him for a long time too. He seems solid most of the time and reads the game well, but some of the mistakes he's made in the past (the first that come to mind were against Mexico in France '98) are worrying

i dont think its stams playing ability which people doubt, its his age. Stam is a star player, one of the best in my opinion, but his age doesnt fix our defensive problem. simple as that.
