De Sciglio had a few moments indeed but he made a career by being a 3th choice and that’s no coincidence. He’s a average player aswel and struggles a lot in 1v1 situations on the left side.

The difference is that De Sciglio is on his 5th (?) season here and was at Milan, Pellegrini in his first year at a big club.
Id never understand the decision of choosing a 3th choice over a young player who’s just starting his career at a big club. Pellegrini isn’t a finished product and yes we can’t doubt if he’ll ever become starter material, yet I just don’t think that it’s worth choosing Desci over him. Neither do I think that De Sciglio is better

he's injury prone, otherwise a good squad player. he's been a better player this season than finished sandro and completely unpredictable, defensively weak pellegrini.
