Juventus have been linked with Ajax defender Zdenek Grygera, according to reports in Italy.

It is the second time that the Bianconeri have been associated with the Czech Republic international, who seemed destined for a move to Turin in 2003 before Juve dropped their interest in him.

At the time Grygera did not hold an EU passport and the refusal of Marcelo Salas to leave Turin meant that there was no room for another non-European at the Piedmont club, and the 25-year-old moved to Amsterdam.

Now, though, with the Ajax centre-back in possession of an EU passport, Juventus appear to have revived their interest in the man they call 'the Panther’ – after the Jungle Book character of similar-sounding name, Bagheera.

The former Sparta Prague stopper, who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, strong in the air and highly disciplined, is highly rated in Holland and has a £4m minimum release fee clause included in his contract.

Not Juve material, before he joined Ajax he was considered to be quite talentful and promising. His displays at Ajax proved the opposite. An average player at best.

    About Grygera: Media bullsh*t
but pienaar isn't that good.. from the ajax squad i'd take Heitinga,De Jong,Maduro,Sneijder,Babel,and..Jeffrey Sarpong!!!!!!!! have u seen the kid at the U-18 (?? can't remember which U-Tournament was :() championships? Awesome skills!!!!!! IMO will be better than both Van der Vaart and Sneijder and since we took Sergio de Windt (flop) from Ajax in the past, when he was a kid,I'd love to add this kid to our youth ranks..he'll develop into a world class AMC thrust me!! the next big thing ;)
