Category: Transfer

While Barcelona remain favourites to lure Arsenal star Thierry Henry, a return to Juventus has been mooted.

Henry has enjoyed another magnificent season at Highbury, leading the Gunners to the Champions League Final and looking set to secure the Premiership Golden Boot with 24 League goals.

However, despite this term’s achievements the 28-year-old hitman is likely to leave England in the summer.

Barcelona and Inter have already expressed an interest in his signature but now Juventus are also set to join the hunt.

In 1999, Henry spent an unhappy spell at the Stadio Delle Alpi, scoring a disappointing three goals in 16 games.

Today the Les Bleus striker is a different proposition and may be exactly what the Bianconeri need when they come to strengthen the squad in pre-season.

Talk of Henry’s possible arrival has so far only succeeded in jeopardising the futures of the strikers already at the club.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is stalling contract talks amidst rumours that he’s trying to sell his house in Turin.

Alessandro Del Piero’s commitment to the Bianconeri is also in doubt. The 31-year-old’s relationship with Coach Fabio Capello is said to be frosty and was not helped by his reaction to being substituted against Siena last weekend.

Even if Ibrahimovic and Del Piero are coaxed into spending another season at the Delle Alpi, there is a need to show more strength in depth – as shown by the Old Lady’s Champions League demise.

Source: Football Italia

the prospect of henry playing for us is mouth watering, but buying him would be a step backwards for us.id rather see a fresh, young, exciting talent over an accomplished world beater star for us next season.
