As simple as it gets, can you tell me why is it vital do get another striker?
It wouldn´t harm us to get another striker, but I agree it is not vital.

Defence and creative, paceful midfielders are vital IMO.

P.S. ZAF, nice avatar! Pesso the legend...:pint: :D

Del Piero, Trezeguet, Bojinov, Palladino and Zalayeta. What do you want to do with another striker? Look at his prettiness?

i think it should be taken step by step.if you think too high, then yes,it gives you confidence, but if the confidence turns into over-confidence,then you end up fallin real bad.

1.ge promoted this season.

keep some personal achievable goals for the serie B this season, for eg :

-going through the season unbeaten, which i think is not that impossible.
-getting together a long run of confidence building victories.
-winning the serie B with a convincing points margin.

2.reinforce the squad in the summer.

-buy players that we CAN get.players who dont screw our bank account, and players who can adapt well here.players like barzagli, ribery etc.think of an able replacement for buffon if he leaves,an able replacement for trezeguet if he leaves,AND an able replacement for nedved.

3.keep targets in the serie A.

-go in steps.the targets for eg,could be :

a)cancel out any relegation threat.
b)get into the top 10.
c)get into a european spot
d)get into a CL spot
3)finally,we can think about the scudetto itself.

i havent build a masterplan that is sure to work, and football isnt rocket science anyway.but i just think that taking it step by step would be better than getting way ahead of time.

I said it´s not vital.

I will leave our Coach and Board to deal with it.

You said it's not vital but it won't harm, I think it is unnecessary to buy a forward and because of that it is harmful.

I wouldnt rule out the possibility but I prefer if our team remained low key and without any significant pressure on the players. I feel players would probably prefer it that way as well.

However as Baggio said, we need reinforcement at the back. I am actually surprised nobody has mentioned Lugano yet. I have seen him play couple of times and he is one tough cookie. You can so see him having fun bullying opponents forwards. He is in a clone of Cordova, Montero and I believe he is a perfect heir to Paolo. I bet the whole board will fall in love with him the moment he has none of Zlatan's all frill tricks and give a good thump on Ibra's shin.

Obviously Barzagli, on a sporting grounds, is a more preferable choice but I reckon with economics in our mind, Lugano is a perfect fit for the team. I also hope he can instill some attitude in to J.A "No d*ck" Boumsong. Also sign up VDV from Hamburg - he looks like a lot more mature player than the one in Ajax. Looks sharp in front of goal and probably more prepared for the big league now having spent a year in Germany. Also it would be fun watching VDV chasing Ibra in Derby D'Italia.

cb and left wing should be our main priorities. as much as i love nedved, he will lose it sooner or later. better be prepared for that. vdv fits perfectly in here imo. just wonder whether he'd want to come and whether hsv will let him go easily.

lugano. dont know much about him, but if he's at least half of what montero was, hes already my favourite :D

I am the only one who has noticed our chairman having a dig at the past management. I think that really wasnt necessary especially when you have Trezeguet, Del Piero, Camoranesi, Buffon, Nedved, Giannicheda, Zebina, Birindelli on the team, as these guys, with or without refereeing bias, gave 110% to the team (Obviously some are more worthy than the others but you see the point) and regardless of what he really thinks he should have gave some backings and recognition to the players that tried best for the team.

I am not liking the attitudes of new boards at all. I was optimistic at first but I am less certain now.

Same here Fli - Watching VDV playing last night. He definetly looked sharp for the Dutch, and if some stiff no good striker like Dirk Kuyt wasnt on the pitch, then I feel he could have done even better. Beside, the biggest bonus of having VDV is that he is also capable of playing second striker behind the target man. We all know Del Piero is injury prone, especially during the middle part of the season between Jan - March, and having VDV is like buying an insurance of both Nedved and Del Piero. Given the similarities in style, I also feel he can really put some good performances as long as he can build on personal understanding with his teammates.

As for Lugano, I have seen him play for 2 matches but I can assure you he is one hard nosed defender. You can so see opponents forward doesnt like playing against him. My guess is that he is one dirty bastard who elbow, gives those little knee kicks, pull shirt lunging tackles - but hey that is what defenders are paid to do, don't they? If my recollection is correct, he is also at mid 20 or so. I say perfect time for buying promising defenders. He will be ripe for fruit for at least next 5-7 years without the need to be patient whether he can make it or not. I also believe you got be mentally tough to be successful defender in Serie A, and he looks like one.

Isnt he playing in Turkey right now? Can anyone give an update about him?

are you saying we're worse than palermo. with the way things are now, if we were in serie a on 0 points i would say we had a decent shot at the title.
they r not much better than us in terms of the actual squad, but they r a much more cohesive group.

Anyway the topic is not this season its next season, and next season Inter would probably be champions and have all the confidence in the world. Palermo would be in the CL and have the money to make major signings. Roma same or even champions. Milan could make the CL next year and they will rebuild their squad whether its january or june.

there is always the possibility of a challenge (u quoted just one half :D) but it would take:
-some good signings and we need to smart in making them with a bit of luck. You and Jun talked about an LM and CB and i agree completely.
-our current team structure stays the same, so most of the essential players staying for next year.
-Great effort from our youngesters and fringe players, and i think the key lies there. This is where we r below par a bit imo.

lugano. dont know much about him, but if he's at least half of what montero was, hes already my favourite
:agree:

one of worst defenders in Turkiye

if you can see his terrible mistakes, you dont say his name
I guess you are in a better position to judge him than me, but I remember Lugano having a blinder against Liverpool in the World Club Championship Match - where he and the GK for Sao Paulo was definetely the two best players for the Brazilians. He is still a one tough bastard though. I think he will find Serie A his home with refs ignoring him mauling opposition strikers:D .

I think if our squad was in the italian league, we would decently challange, we'd be up there in the top 5 if there were no points deduction. Our weakness? Well its in our defense for sure.

I think we'd do a better job of scoring considering our opponents will play a more open football. But our defense would crumble IMO. We would lose to Palermo, they have a good balanced squad.
