yeap, but raul and ronaldo can't play every game, the need rest too... that's why I'm pretty sure that perez (or someone else there) will take him back, if they don't buy totti or someone else galactico... and sally, £16M is just enough, he has only one year of his contract left, and look what happened with davids...
The whole reason that he was loaned was because they didn't need him. Ronaldo is the striker, and Portillo is the young back-up. Morientes would just getin Portillo's way if he returned to Madrid. If Raul is out, they move a midfielder up to that position and it works a lot better than putting Morientes there would.

Exactly. Real's formation only requires one striker in essence as Raul's place can easily be taken by Zidane with Solari coming into the team. Morientes isn't needed anymore. I personally believe that getting Ronaldo and loaning Morientes was a mistake, but bringing back Morientes at this stage would also be a mistake.

Puyol would probably be fine but honest, I don't think we should get Morientes. He's great and everything and I've always liked him and I think I'll continue to do so, but I don't think that's what we need for now. I'd rather get Zlatan or Gilardino or whoever.

But that is of course considering that I want Trez to stay :)

Morientes eyes Italy move
Wednesday 28 April, 2004

Spanish international Fernando Morientes has opened the door for a summer switch to Serie A.

The striker has been linked with both Roma and Juventus recently after an excellent season at Monaco.

He won’t remain in the Principality though as he is set to return to Real Madrid once his loan period comes to an end.

However, the forward has failed to rule out the possibility of leaving the European giants for good.

"I still have one year left on my contract with Real," he said. "Would I come to Italy? Why not. Serie A fascinates me."

Reports suggest that Roma could make a move by offering either Walter Samuel or Emerson to Real as part of the deal.

Juventus are said to be lining up a similar move with Lilian Thuram being offered to the Madrid outfit in exchange for the youngster.
