Juventus boast an impressive record from championship meetings with Fiorentina in Turin, winning 47, drawing 20 and losing just six of the 73 encounters contested to date.
The most frequent Bianconeri triumph is by a narrow 1-0 scoreline, witnessed on 12 separate occasions.
Here is a round-up of some tightly contested triumphs played out in Piedmont:
1965– Stacchini’s goal in the first half separated the two sides at the final whistle.
1972– This mid-January fixture witnessed a late headed goal from Bettega to seal a crucial victory. It was to be his last strike of the season as a lung infection forced him to miss the rest of the campaign.
1981– In one of the most important matches in Juve v Fiorentina history, a solitary goal from Cabrini proved enough to seal a 19[SUP]th[/SUP]Scudetto title. The Bianconeri would go on to win another league championship the following year, and in doing so completed a 24 year journey to adding a second star to the jersey.
1985– Brio put the hosts in front with just 12 minutes on the clock, and then solid defending from both sides saw the match end 1-0.
1987– As was the case six years previously, a Cabrini goal was decisive in a low scoring Juventus victory.
1991– Fiorentina visited Turin for the opening game of the new season but left empty handed thanks to a well guided header from Casiraghi just before the interval.
1994– The Viola were quick out of the blocks and had established a two goal advantage by half time. However, Juve rallied in dramatic fashion to score three times in the last 17 minutes. Vialli netted twice in quick succession and then Del Piero snatched the 3-2 victory at the death.
2009– Marchisio’s first half goal separated the two sides after he latched onto a brilliant through ball from Del Piero.
The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a goalless stalemate. A full house will welcome Montella’s men to Juventus Stadium tomorrow evening in what should be an intriguing match-up.
