Guests of honour in Zaragoza
After helping celebrate the Stadium of Light's first 10 years - with a match on the 4th of August in Sunderland – Juventus will take part in another important anniversary celebration, involving one of the best-known clubs in Europe. Real Zaragoza were founded 75 years ago this year and they'll be celebrating the event with a friendly against the Bianconeri, to be played in the Aragonese city on the 7th of September, at the “La Romareda” ground.
The match will take place during the break that all Leagues across Europe will take at the beginning of next month to allow the national teams to play various Euro 2008 qualifying matches. It'll be an interesting test to keep in shape and to take in some European atmosphere again against one of the top Spanish sides, rated among the favourites in the Liga.
You only need to read the names of the players at Manager Victor Fernandez' disposal to realize the quality of the team: there are indeed several well-known footballers. From players that used to play in Italy such as Oliveira (at AC Milan last year), Diego Milito (who played some time ago for Genoa) and Matuzalem (who played for Brescia, Piacenza and Napoli) to Ayala, Aimar and Juanfran, who used to play for Ranieri at Valencia, and D’Alessandro, the talented player from Argentina, who many Italian clubs were keen to sign up this summer.
In their first 75 years, Real Zaragoza have never won the Spanish League (they came 6th last year, which earned them a place in Europe), but they've always done very well in knockout tournaments. Remarkably, not only have they lifted two European trophies - the UEFA Cup in 1964 and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1995 - but also as many as six Spanish Cups (the last one 2004) and one Super Cup (in 2004 also).

After they all the trouble they gave us with Milito we accept to play them in a friendly?
I would have told them to f*ck off. My guess is that those amateurs we have on the board want every penny they can get and got some good $$$ out of it.
