We are a defensive team anyway, Emo+Vieira may dominate any midfield(dont think of Barca's as ex),
we will use the wingers for the offensive job,
since thiswould be their prime objective when the2world class DMs wont leave any defending to do
and with Kovac present, i dare to say we could use the 3-5-2 against weaker teams with Neddy or Mutu behind the 2strikers and in front of the 2DMs

Arsenal have admitted for the first time that Juventus have made a move to sign captain Patrick Vieira.

Highbury chairman Peter Hill-Wood said the club might sell the 29-year-old, whose contract expires in 2007.

"I gather Juventus have made inquiries but we're very undecided whether we are going to talk to them or not," the Daily Star quoted Hill-Wood as saying.

"Patrick's aware they've approached us. It all very much depends on what they offer and what he wants to do."

Vieira, who was the subject of a large bid from Real Madrid last summer, is reported to have demanded talks with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to hammer out his future.

"In a situation like this, you have to listen to what they say and tell the player about it," added Hill-Wood.

"It would be very, very difficult to replace Patrick. We have a board meeting in about a week's time and I am sure we will discuss it then.

"We have not decided what we want to do, but my gut feeling is we would very much like him to stay."

It has been reported in Italy that vice-president Roberto Bettega has been in London to meet with Gunners chiefs.

Juve are thought to have bid Ј5m plus Stephen Appiah, but Arsenal would want significantly more for the Frenchman.

It has also been suggested that the Serie A champions are prepared to go to Ј15m plus defender Jonathan Zebina and midfielder Enzo Maresca.

Juve are also rumoured to be keen on a move for Arsenal winger Robert Pires, 31, who is growing frustrated that he is only being offered a one-year extension to his deal.

The club's director general Luciano Moggi admitted he had been in London on business last week but refused to comment on which player they were interested in.

"There have never been any negotiations over Vieira. I went to London for other players, not Vieira," he told L'Equipe.

"Yes, I met with Arsene Wenger, but that's because he's a friend of mine - not to discuss Vieira's transfer."

Spanish giants Real Madrid are also reported to have re-entered the race to sign Vieira after Steven Gerrard decided to stay at Liverpool.

Juventus chief hints at AC Milan clause for Arsenal's Vieira
tribalfootball.com - July 12, 2005

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has hinted their push for Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira could be scuppered by a clause in his original transfer documents from AC Milan.

Moggi has floated the possibility that Milan had inserted in Vieira's move to Arsenal a clause denying him a return to Serie A.

The Juve chief explained: "Milan have found themselves in this situation before. Perhaps Inter could have avoided losing Seedorf and Pirlo to Milan if they had had such a clause.

"When I sold Zidane, I put in a clause: no Italy return for two years."

Moggi can find a way,we may buy him threw another non Italian team like we did on Mutu,
or Arsenal could set him free and take the money under the table
or "discover"this clause isn t valid no longer...

I prefer Giannichedda. I really don't understand why Moggi would want to bring in Vieira, he is overly expensive and would not complement Emerson in any way. He is the mediocre version of Emerson. Montero(the current) in midfield, with his many useless cards. We should go for cheaper more creative solutions.

Even better, just use Enzo.

The more I think about Vieira the more I think that he will come to Juventus.

The key reason is that Giraudo, Bettega and Moggi are involved.

In most transfers, its just Moggi - and Moggi is stuborn and tight with cash. But given that we are bringing in the heavies, I think there is a real chance of it happening.

Vieira is also good friends with Thuram and Trezeguet and at his age of 29, this would be the perfect time to try his luck with a team that has a better chance of winning the Champions League.

To be honest, we could go for a cheaper version, because we already have a very good combo with Giannichedda and Emerson. Gianni takes a more defensive role than Emerson who would than be allowed to go more forward, and thats what he wants. What most maybe don't know, when Emerson was at Leverkusen he was by far Bundesliga's best playmaker.

Vieira: l'Arsenal abbassa il prezzo
13 07 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal have changed the price for Viera, they wanted first 20 millions and now they want 16 Million cash..
viera has talked with wenger and told him that he does not want to play for arsenal anymore, and wenger accepted that. Viera could have called juventus and told moggi about that...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Somehow I feel that Viera will come to juve..
this story looks logical, as I don´t think that arsenal are selling Viera without a reason..

Vieira to sign today?

The Italian Press have confidently predicted that Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira will sign for Juventus by the end of the day.

The French midfield player is said to have agreed terms on a contract with the Bianconeri, which will net him £2m a season until 2009.

It will also allow him to link up again with Fabio Capello, who was Coach during his short spell at Milan as a 19-year-old.

At that time, the Senegal-born player found it hard to adapt to life in the top-flight of Italian football, but has since matured into one of the most complete midfield players in world football during his time at Highbury.

Juventus Vice-president Roberto Bettega has said that Juve are in the market for a midfield player to partner Brazilian Emerson, and that “if Arsenal decide to sell Vieira we would be in for him tomorrow.”

But Bettega also stated: “I don’t tell lies – I have been asked if I plan to travel to London the day after tomorrow and I said no. That is the truth.”

However, Corriere dello Sport insist that the deal will be concluded today for a fee of £10.5m

“I will only comment once everything has been sealed. We are interested in Vieira, but we are also interested in other players,” Juventus transfer guru Luciano Moggi said.

“Juventus always keep an eye on the transfer market, and if deals can be done, we will do them - but if Arsenal want too high a fee, nothing will happen.”

Gazzetta dello Sport also insist that the player and Juventus have agreed personal terms, and that the stumbling block is Arsenal’s valuation of £11.5m.
