Del Piero and Camoranesi without a doubt. Vieira's technique is very good as well. Zlatan is probably fourth. Some people seem to have a misconception as to what technique really is. Zlatan is the best dribbler in the team but that has a great deal to do with his strength. His technique is pretty good too but technique isn't just ball control and ball skills, and Zlatan's passing technique isn't very good.

What Is Technique?

I have a clip from 04/05 when Camo makes a tunnel on a player on the first touch on a ball that comes 15 meters up in the air. that is Technique!

I have another clip when Del Piero takes done a crossball by flicking it with his right foot and directly backheels it to nedved between 2 players! That is technique!

Then I have 100 of Clips when Zlatan makes the most fantastic dribblings! Thats not technique!

Have you ever seen Zlatan run full speed towards a defender??? He has no ball control and he doesnt know what he is going to do next.. he often slows down while Del Piero and Camoranesi continues at full speed without loosing the ball.

Zlatan is not any more technical then Zambrotta or Nedved...

So my answer is. Camoranesi has the best technique! He always gets the ball in strange positions, half-volley, on his chest etc. and always manages to either get through or get a freekick...

Del Piero and Zambrotta very very close

Thats true.. though I rate Zlatans close control/first touch better. Only slightly, but we are lucky to have two of the best in that department.

Zlatans first touch is horrendeous. All you have to do is look at his wondergoal against NAC when he played with Ajax.

Best ball control has to be Emerson. By far.

His dribbling is decent tho, and I disagree that his technique is similar to that of Zambrotta or Nedved. He has much better technique than them, altho it's not as good as the general opinion seems to be.

I don't think Zlatan has more techniques than Del Piero.
Zlatan has a stronger body build and younger.
Del Piero from the time he was a teenager he never used his talent as much as Zlatan does now. He uses them when they are mostly needed.
Don't get me wrong, Zlatan puts a huge smile on my face when he does those great stuff in the pitch. He is just amazing.
The difference between Del Piero and Zlatan that Del Piero dribbles stright to the goal. He doesn't go wide (which loses time). This is much more difficult than going wide and using your talent there.
What makes it even more difficult to chose is as I said before Del Piero does not show alot of talent in the pitch. Like he doesn't take a player to a corner and starts dribbling around him.
On the other hand, it is just very difficult to see Zlatan doing an over head pass like the one Del Piero gave trezeguet during the Milan game last season.
Del Piero is almost 9 years older than Zlatan. This also makes a difference.

Its been a while since I've seen Mutu playing. So I cannot comment on that much. But when he was playing for Parma he was teriffic.

but the thing is. there is a difference between Techniwue and Flair.
Zlatans Flair is undisscusably one of the greatest in the world.
But his technique is not much better then Zambrottas... Im watching Sweden-Bulgaria this very moment.

Zlatan in an counter attack, full speed.. He's got Larsson to the right and willhemsson to the left.. he runs and runs and the ball gets to far away so he gets out of balance, 3 bulgarian defenders and he looses it. If it was Camoranesi or Del Piero they would never have lost the ball because of it getting to far away from them! They might have lost irt in other ways, but not in the technical aspect.

I've seen Zlatan loose those balls so many times that it makes me sick.
Players like Kaka, Camoranesi, Rhonaldinho and Henry are players with fantastic technique. Because no matter in what situation, fast or slow, they always know where they have the ball.
Im sorry to say, zlatan Don't!

Bull, he lost the ball because he had 4 defenders around him and not many options for a pass. He dribbled two of them and the second one he fribbled put him off balance. Zlatan knows exactly where he had the ball. You cant make uberdribbles without superb ball control.

You expect too much of him.

No. Best ball control is del Piero and Camoranesi. And indeed Zlatan's first touch is horrendous. Zlatan's rather weak technically anyway.

It's pretty much random. I remember a champions league match with Ajax in 2002/2003 (can't remember which one) where he had one of the best first touches ever.

Regarding just ball control, not dribbling, just being able to keep the ball at his feet and not lose it, I believe it's Emerson. He never seems to lose the ball when it's on his feet, he seems to be able to turn around with it or run away but he doesnt lose it.

Best ball control. Emerson.

I disagree with your overall conclusion even though I agree about Emerson being very clean with the ball at his feet and almost never having the ball taken off him. The reasoning behind my statement is that Emerson doesn't see a great deal of possession in high pressure situations. Being a holding midfielder he usually collects the ball infront of the back four where he has more time than he would if he played further up the pitch. Emerson would IMO lose the ball a lot more often if he played in a more advanced position where he would have someone on his back or closing him down pretty much all the time.

Best ball control goes to Camoranesi but Del Piero is a close second IMO.
