Juventus are looking to strengthen their defensive options for the new campaign by signing Manuel Pasqual and Andrea Barzagli.
Reports in Italy on Wednesday are suggesting that both players appear on Luciano Moggi’s hit-list and the transfer guru has already made his move.
Left-back Pasqual is currently with Fiorentina after he joined the Viola in a co-ownership deal with Arezzo in the summer.
Juve are allegedly set to buy out Arezzo’s half share in the player and then make the Viola a tempting offer for their 50 per cent.
Moggi is ready to hand over either midfielder Manuele Blasi or even Giorgio Chielllini, who spent last season on loan with Fiorentina and was replaced by Pasqual.
As for Barzagli, Juventus are keen to add a young and promising central defender to their ranks for the future.
Although Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini only today claimed that he wouldn’t be selling his best players, he could be persuaded to change his mind and some reports suggest he has given Juve first option on the stopper.
Juve have offered the Rosanero chief the services of Fabrizio Miccoli, who is currently on loan in Portugal with Benfica, in exchange.
If Zamparini still doesn’t bite then the Turin giants could even include Nicola Legrottaglie, on loan at Siena this season, as part of the deal.
Juventus are also believed to be interested in the Palermo duo of defender Cristian Zaccardo and midfielder Simone Barone.
The Turin giants have already secured the services of Marco Marchionni from Parma on a free transfer and fellow midfielder Cristiano Zanetti is expected to follow once his Inter deal expires.
