I think Juve needs more defenders, and Capello knew that. I think he is waiting to January to see how are the things.

1 - The continues injuries of Thuram, Kovac and Zebina.
2 - How devolps Gladston and Balzaretti(too youngs and need more experience).

We have a great defence, but the problem is the ageand their continues injuries. Thuram(32), Canna(31), Kovac(31).

Names.. well i think in:

Lugano : the replacement of Montero in uruguay, he plays for Sao Paulo and is his best player in the defence. Is one of the simbols of the team. ( If he comes, can play in the CL)

Mexes: He have a great potencial( and needs Capello to devolp)

Kompany: A big future

Other names: Gonzalo Rodriguez, Ledley King, Barzagli.

Other options?
I'm not satisfied with Zebina's performance. He started to play for us as DRC to replenish the whole at that place (Montero).
Putting him at the RB position ,and switcing Thuram to DC was a good move by Capello,IMO,which resulted with less allowed goals.

Other names : well, one was constantly alluded-Gabriel Milito,he is DC and young, but I would like to see one perfect Italian DC.

I have never been pleased with Zebina:p
Milito would be wonderful, he will never come though...he rejected Liverpool just to stay and play with his brother at Zaragoza.

I think that our main priority is another reliable DC.

Milito is an excellent defender, but he sometimes has problems with timing his headers. Since Cannvaro isn't the best either at heading it wouldn't be smart to partner them.

I'm not too big a fan of Barzagli and Chivu is great, but always injured. If we do get him Roma wil go mad, especially if we get Mancini and/or Cassano as well.

It was only a couple years ago when there seemed to be a plethora of promising defenders Juve could buy.Van Buyten, Mexes, Bonera, Ferrari, Leggrotaglie, Zaccardo, Zauri, Chivu etc the list goes on.

Right now there aren't many and those mentioned haven't exactly turned out well either.

But I for one wouldn't mind getting Mexes here, he was amazing at Auxerre and IMO he could be reborn given the right environment and players such as Thuram and Cannavaro to learn from, as opposed to Totti. That would sound entirely like a Moggi coup to me.

Right now I don't think we need more defenders, at least not any fullbacks. Thuram's injuries is getting me increasingly nervous, but I trust in Moggi's buys... dunno anything about Gladstone yet but hey Kovac is doing well and in an emergency Zebina could play in the centre.

I only hope Canna won't get injured, then we're really screwed;)

This is so true, a couple of years ago there was a huge list to choose from and now everyone of them seems like a huge risk. Van Buyten is still amazing though:D

I rate him high at least and I remember when I was in Hamburg, he was sort of a god for the local fans. don´t know if anyone from germany has some thoughts on that...
