Buffon Extends With Juve
3/31/2005 12:06:00 PM
The Italian international goalkeeper has definitely put an end to the transfer rumours linking him to Real Madrid by renewing his contract with the Old Lady till 2010.
Juventus have extended Gianluigi Buffon’s contract by two years, thus squashing the speculations regarding a possible move by the 27-year-old shot-stopper to Spain. Therefore Buffon, who will be netting 4.5 million Euros per year, seems destined to remain with the Bianconeri for a long time.

Real Madrid tried to lure the goalkeeper, who is considered as the best in the world in his role, by offering 30 million Euros to Juventus. However the offer was deemed too low and was rejected by Luciano Moggi.

Buffon joined Juventus from Parma in 2001 for a fee of over 50 million Euros. With the Bianconero he has already won 2 Scudetti and 2 Italian Super Cups, and will now be hoping to win Champions League this season.

I believe buffon decided that he will retire one year later,
than he was thinking about.
He said that he wonna retire early and become a coach,
he just had a second thought and decided to stay around one more year

GUys, I just wanna talk about Buffon's performance...
He is A GREAT goalkeeper no matter who watches, his strengths are in his Positioning and in his Consistancy and Focus throughout the game.
But when was the last time he made a spectacular save?

I just watch Milan vs. Inter and DIda was magnificant...and it seems he has been quite magnificant for Milan these past weeks.

Do you think may be Buffon is a bit overrated?
My friends here (who are mostly milan fans) think he is..but I don't think so, I said if u put DIda in Juve u might not have the same results because it is harder for a goalkeeper to do nothing most of the time and then make a save, while Dida, eventhough Milan have Nesta and Stam, seem to get tested by shoots quite often thus easier to make the big saves latter on.

Every football olayer is subject to shape and condition form, and Buffon is probably not at his best in this moment. But not in vain, he has been awarded two years in a row as the best goalkeeper in the world...

Besides, i could not find a goalkeeper that fits better Juve style....
