Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has rubbished suggestions that the club will move for Steven Gerrard and William Gallas in the summer.

The Old Lady of Italian football are romping towards another Serie A title and are also in the last eight of the UEFA Champions League, but this has not stopped the rumour mill from cranking into gear.

Fabio Capello has put together a top-class unit which is strong in all areas and Moggi says there is no need to spend a vast amount on players such as Liverpool midfielder Gerrard and Chelsea defender Gallas.

"Rumours that link us to Gerrard and Gallas are groundless," Moggi told Guerin Sportivo.

"Why should we spend €20 or €25 million when from the defence, despite what is said, we have big guarantees from the players already in the group?

"And we are also satisfied with the growth of young players like Balzaretti and Chiellini."

Emerson and Patrick Vieira have proved a dominant pairing in the middle of the park this term and Moggi does not see any need to move for Gerrard.

"When in the midfield you have Emerson and Vieira, there is no need to spend such a large amount of money on Gerrard," concluded Moggi.

I think Gallas is a huge possibility especially considering teh number of french players at the club. Gerrard just in feasible for the club. Unless Capello is leaving and Emerson follows, even after both dismissed these rumours in the media, then i dont see a need for Gerrard at all.

If the club has 20 to 25 million pound to spend, I doubt they will spend it all on Gerrard anyway. Besides, that sought of money can get the team some really creative players such as Riquelme.

gallas is very possible.but im not too sure about gerrard.the only way i see gerrard coming is if one of emerson or viera are sold in the summer.keeping in mind that we have an ageing midfield, selling one of emerson or viera to bring in gerrard would be nice especially since gerrard seems to have an inbuilt motor which enables him to run almost 700,000000 kms in a match:D

personally,id want xabi alonso more than gerrard though.

Lampard is better, Gerrard is going to give the opposing teams match-winning assists like in Liverpool :D
