Because he completely ignored the gotze thing, and went on with draxler.

Yet at this point we see that juventus has been mainly dealing with bayern, and bitter few if any at all with schalke
Yet di marzio has been trowing all sorts of numbers around.

Juve beeing after gotze is circulating in europe, draxler is more or less circulating in italy
Those Götze to Juve rumors have been shut down by almost all of the german media.

On the other hand, Draxler to Juve seems to gain some momentum(in the media), especially with Schalke needing some money to finance Shaqiri and the guy they already bought in Geis.

If Gotze won't come, we could loan Draxler but rather no obligation to buy.
No such thing would ever happen.
They either sell Draxler for a good price or they'll keep him/look to sell him elsewhere.

Berardi is a better bet than Draxler to me. At least will keep us in check as far as the Serie a goes, than have a new expensive signing that's got to adapt to a new league. And I honestly, can't believe we wouldn't at least try and give Felipe Anderson a shot, his wages would fall in line with what we have in mind even if the transfer fee would be in the goetze territory.
Berardi could never be an adequate replacement for neither Draxler nor Gotze. Draxler has played in the champions league for years and has been a starter at a much bigger club than Sassuolo for 3 years. Ditto Gotze plus he's a world champion. Berardi could well be a phenomenon but asking him to come to the second best club in the world and help lead the attack is a big ask.

do you think schalke would let him go less than the release clause?

I would disagree with the assessment that we are the second best club in the world. And I think with Deaxler's injury riddled season, he will not carry the same momentum as a marquee player for us in the CL, as a Goetze would perhaps. That said, we have to understand that we are now going to be setting up for a year in transition, and in such a year, it would be more important to stay compact and realistically aim to consolidate our place in Italy before going guns blazing for Europe, coz everything will start from domestic success, and CL qualification for the year after. I think a lot of us here take for granted that we are going to win the league and that is not going to be as straight forward with all the changes this season. We definitely are the team to beat, but it's not going to be as easy as the last year or year before that when the team works to discover a new identity for itself.
