Given how quickly this deal moved, I don't think it was in its entirety done with the intention of buying an AM. Something has clearly transpired behind the scenes between club and player. But that said, now that the sale has happened, there is a need gap on the pitch, and the reality of the situstion is that this sale will albeit partially, but only be of value if that position is well compensated so that what the team loses in heart makes up for in natural flair.

we could as well end up buying no one, or loaning Cuadrado like it was suggested even before Vidal left . honestly, i dont see that many options out there that might interest us. unless Paratici and Marotta pull out a "new Vidal" out of nowhere

We never needed to sacrifice anyone given the season and the mercato we had just about wrapped up. The nature and circumstances of this sale suggest that it wasn't to fund another player exclusively. There is definitely more than meets the eye, but point is, now that it has transpired, and we've lost a big big player, the only way forward is to fix it with a stellar, high profile purchase so that we can signal to other clubs and our own players that we are a team with ambition. Not a club perpetually in shuffling between levels three and two. That graduation has to level one has to happen now, even moreso with a big sale like this.

Hasnt marotta stated time and time again that we wont sign a world class player or whatever? So what makes it difference in this case? Just cause we have the money, we automatically have to unload it on a player? And Marotta said it would be market opportunities, so at this point, draxler for 20m is an opportunity and so is sandro.

Imo we have actually strengthened the squad, and while we have lost a great warrior in vidal, maybe this is the season where pogba really steps up and is the difference maker.
