Just because the 20mln we missed out. Nothing else.

Having a good director negotiating is everything.
I don't believe we're some poverty stricken, provincial club like some do, but we're going to need Marotta and Del Neri to pull off some really really good deals to secure it for next season.

We're still a top club with high hopes and money in the pocket. It's all we need, plus some brain of course, which previous guys lacked.

Even if we were in the CL, having to fight for a player with Real and City would be tough. Now people say "eh, too bad we don't have a CL spot". If we had it but with the same competition, people would say "eh, damn those rich clubs, we can't compete with those".

Well, both statements are right at some point. Having CL spot secured wouldn't mean much when you know that you gotta beat City's 4.5mln/year offer. And on the other side, having no CL spot but having money will make you get great players.

We have to rely on Marotta now. I said it few months back and I'll say it again - I expect good moves.

The only thing which worries me is that based on past experiences in the post Serie B world, we aren't the best in bringing a top squad together. I guess the last minute "genius" transfer of Grosso has left a bad taste in my mouth for the off season.

I also expect good moves by the way, but it depends on how good Marotta is on whether we get the Hazard type players or the Vargas type players.

:agree:

That was my point at first place, we can't compete with City, they spent over 30m on a player like Lescott, so imagine money they are going to offer for Vargas.

Not playing CL doesn't mean that much for us, we are big club among biggest in Europe so any excuse of not playing CL is wrong (Ribery signed for Bayern when they were in UEFA Cup).

And another problem is that Fiorentina would rather sell him to foreign club rather than Serie A club I think

I don't think so. It's what big clubs do, Viola is not a big club as they are not in the positions to do such things. If Vargas goes to EPL it doesn't have to mean that. Players like Jovetic will move to some other Italian club IMO, even if he's tipped there as a star. They just can't choose, being an average club, IMO.

If we offer money and a good deal for Vargas we might even have an advantage. Players choose to stay in the same country very often when they are guaranteed a spot and some decent :money:

I don't I still think that if Fiorentina get 25m offer from us and let's say City, I'm sure that they will sell him to City...

Vargas for 20 million is a lot of money. With that kinda money i hope we go for a true wide player, someone who runs down the flank, can dribble and stuff. Vargas is more like a defender turned winger.
