That is the one thing I've learned since following football.

In North America, the news outlets are more or less reliable. Any source that speculates and consistently gets it wrong is mocked. For example, in ice hockey there was this site, "Eklund's Hockey", who got one call right and became an overnight sensation. After a few months it became obvious he was a fraud and the majority of his calls were just him throwing blind darts. The real sources for sports such as TSN, Sportsnet in Canada or ESPN/Fox Sports in the US are somewhat accurate or else it won't be published. So when I have followed hockey rumours usually I'm confident that there is at least something to the article.

I realized very quickly with Football that there are very few accurate sources (maybe the BBC). I have noticed that Italy isn't remotely as bad as England though. Not saying Italian papers are good in terms of accuracy because they're horrible as well. The hit rate is absurdly low. The British papers are comical though. Through Metro, the Daily Mail, etc. Manchester United have been rumoured to buy 1/2 the players who travelled to the world cup this year.

"Manchester United plays audacious bid for x"
"Manchester United temps x with bid for y"
"Manchester United plans sensational bid for x"
"Manchester United dealt a blow in its pursuit of x"'
"X has emerged as a target for Manchester United"
"Manchester to hijack y's bid for x"
"*Insert Current United Manager* handed BILLION pound war chest for X,Y and Z.

It's incredibly annoying. What's the point of reporting news if a paper just uses the same headlines over and over again and just rotates the names of all the big names in football indiscriminately?

Yeah, it's ridiculous. FSC is the most reliable soccer outlet from what I've seen. They reported Vidal to Juve and Aguero to City before it happened. Both transfers became a big deal in this forum and that was the only accurate source imo.

27m? Can he possibly be worth even close to that? I understand Verona is pushing the price since they will hardly get any profits from even a sale of 27m, but still. I have far from seen him enough to evaluate him. But that money could afford quite decent players.

Name a few...

The market says a player like Iturbe is worth 25m+ He has enormous potential and already started showing this past year at 20. His season at 20, is twice the season Sanchez had at 20. Does this mean he'll be better in the end, no. But it certainly suggests he has the potential to be even better... It's a risk, yes, but a calculated risk, and one we should certainly take.

Maybe Ivan Perisic, Cuadrado, Quintero, James Rodriguez, Griezmann, [Enter random German name] or Shaqiri?
I've seen Iturbe ones so I have no idea how good he is, so from my perspective it is a steep price on someone I know nothing about, hence my cautious view. As we long as we know what we are doing and simply not escalating commitment because we're stuck in a path.

who would most likely be older or have (way) higher wages.
but i kinda agree. he certainly isn´t coming on the cheap ^^.
Yeah I know, I hope that we don't spend everything in one bucket and can't fill other spots (e.g. LB).

They're talking about 60 for James Rodrigues, Cuadrado will likely be around 30, Quintero probably 23-25, Griezmann 30+.

Iturbe isn't expensive at all. It all comes down to whether or not he will justify that price tag in the long run, which goes for most players in that bracket.

Rodriguez suggestion is laughable. He'll go for a huge sum to RM. 50m+ easily.

Cuadrado is not available for 30m guys. He'll cost 40m at this point. Viola doesn't want to sell and they will for a huge price. 30m he cost before the WC.

Griezmann has release clause 35m I think.

Shaqiri is actually a very good proposal and he should be within out budget but it seems Conte prefers Iturbe.

27m?! Wow. Watch us sell him for 8m in 2 seasons. And Morata for 22m?
I was enjoying our previous stingy transfer campaigns a lot more.

The money wasted on these 2 could set us back for years.

They could well do.

I think Evra will turn out to be our best one, I said to @X on Facebook the other day, Evra will have a Pirlo type influence on our team, he'll massively change our dynamics.

That might be the case with Evra, also I really liked what i saw from him at WC he might be really good signing for us.
I just wonder what will happen to Isla, its probably the best time to sell him now, after WC, but if we do sell him then we need one more RB (hopefully someone younger).

more likely that he will be a Lucioesque bidone signing who goes back home to Monaco in January.
