If we're going to persist with the 3-5-2 and Pereyra can't find space in midfield, Allegri should try him on the wing in the same way as Cuadrado has been this season.

As far as I know, his contract expires in the summer, and Beppe already said he's not going anywhere in January. So, one way or another, it seems unlikely we'll be making money from his sale (unless we resign him, keep him for 6 months or whatever, and then sell him).

Do you think he's overrated on this forum? I think lately, given the never-ending injuries and the Ferrari crash, he's actually become a bit underrated around here. He can be rash, for sure, doest have nearly the same positional awareness or composure as our stud defenders, but I I don't think he's cost us that many goals since he came back. His worst offences for me were the red against Bayern (before he returned), and the Ferrari crash.

A good team guy, and as a utility player across the backline, I think he'd be useful. Agree that I prefer him as a FB, but he has put in some solid shifts at RCB in our back 3.

I saw more of what I've previously seen from Cuadrado. As I said, I do think he's a good player. The point is not that we don't need that creative element as part of our attack, another player who can possess the ball, run at defenders, and has some unpredictability to their game. We clearly do, and potentially 2-3 of them (SS, AM, and maybe even a decently offensive RWB -- although with Licht getting older, I would want a player who's comfortable at RB, too).

The point is that I would spend the money on somebody who was more suitable for our tactics, and, like we've been talking about, has more end product to their game.

Cuadrado isn't some amazing force at breaking down 'the parked bus', either. That's not exactly what Fiorentina were typically up against, and a team doesn't do that by simply running at 10 defenders behind the ball, either (which I'm sure you know). It does help to drag defenders out of position, and keep them on their heels, but intelligent movement and good passing are pretty darn important to the process, too.

Where would you field him in a 4-3-1-2, as you mentioned before? As the TQ?

Anyway, I don't want to seem excessively critical of Cuadrado, because, like I said, he's a good player, good teammate, and I like the guy's attitude. It's not like I would be 'put out' to see him stay, but for the purpose of conversation, I think Beppe and co. could spend the money more wisely.



Let's be very clear, though, Digne didn't do a damn thing offensively, at any point of the match. Right? Roma were relatively toothless in attack yesterday, 1 long shot on target. Nainggolan playing TQ was also quite limited, he and Pjanic definitely should have had different roles.

Looking at next year, I think we can do better. 20M, plus a 4 or 5 year contract at his current rate (3M net, 6ish gross) is not some huge bargain.

Spending between 40-50M on Juan Cuadrado, to offer limited production while occasionally playing RWB, is not the move I would make.

I think Beppe and Paratici can find a better player for our particular needs, operating in that type of price range.

I absolutely think Cuadrado could play TQ in 4-3-1-2 if given time and opportunities to grow into that positioning. He's a versatile player, and I think he has a good fotball mind given how fast he adapted into Allegri's system.

Regarding playing TQ, he's creative and fast. Sure his final delivery has to improve, but he can absolutely grow into that position. Im definetely not saying we shouldn't get an AM, im just pointing out Cuadrado in my eyes could play that position if necessary. In this day and age where Bertolacci went for 20m, Cuadrado for 20 is good value for Juventus. He should start more for this team as well.

He needs to be part of a more open free flowing team to how his true potential. Could do well in Spain I think but here its just not right for him. Teams sit back to much against us for his pace to be a true factor

As frustrating as he can be at times with his poor finishing and so/so decision making, he offers us something completely different to Lichtsteiner in that role. He's quick as fuck, has a decent cross on him, can dribble and beat players in 1V1 duels. We can use him in a 4-3-3 and 3-5-2, and TBH in a 4-3-1-2 he can probably also be used as an RB, RCM or even TQ role if the need ever arose. Obviously his ideal position is in a wing-based role, but his versatility can come in handy.

He looks pretty settled back in Italian football again and has seemingly settled into our team/group very well. Look, he hasn't been fantastic for us so far, but lets not forget he has scored two very important goals for us, and has bagged 3-4 assists along the way. Not too bad. He is what the Italians call a "jolly", a much better version of Pepe/Giach. For 20M I'd want us to sign him.

His short passing and 1-2s are decent. The workrate and ability to press high is there. Finishing and killer instinct in the final third is not there, but Pereyra has that same problem and he does well as an AM. Is Cuadrado our future TQ? Of course not, I said given time and opportunities he can fill in at that position if necessary. I prefer him to Licht at wing back though, that I have no problem expressing.

I think Allegri might even see him as our future right back. He did the same with Abate at Milan who lets face it is not even close to the player Cuadrado is and even Abate for a while did pretty decent job for him. Lichtsteiner can teach him a thing or two about defending.

That doesn't stop Marcelo.

But I like defenders to be able to defend and then being good in attack as a bonus.

Someone balanced like Alex Sandro would be great.

One thing notably in his showing against roma different to his previous games, how quick he was to receive and pass the ball in possession. Pretty obvious they're trying to cut the unnecessary ball hogging out of his game.. let's see how he fares and if he improves in that aspect until the end of season. For now, doesn't seem like he'll be essential and a must-sign sorta player, tho at the same time a decent alternative to Licht and his style with some of the upcoming games in mind.
