Mellberg and Legro are very good defenders. I doubt you have seen Knezevic play to label him as an average defender.

A team only needs 4 CB's a season. It's the area where injuries and fatigue is at a minimum. we have no shortages in defense. Andrade's injury will have no effect on the team as I would personally pick Legro over him.
Legro ahead of Andrade! You didn't leave a space for a logical discussion.

Wish him all the best in a speedy recovery, who knows he might be back quicker than predicted, although questions must be asked about whether the board really did do enough research on Andrade and his recurring injuries...

I think It would be rather wise if we spent the money we have left on buying ourself a decent attacking mid/winger rather than coughing up for a replacement. Grygera and Zebina can provide ample cover and maybe we can reinforce in January depending on the situation we are in. Also another alternative could be to go out and loan in another defender with an option to buy.

So in case Andrade wasn't injured someone has to go and shoot him in head so we can save his salary as 4 defenders is enough according to your majesty.
No, Knezevic doesn't exactly earn a ridiculously high salary. We could do with him to add more squad depth in case of injury. Other than that, we're fine in the CB department.

It's not a very hard concept. There's nothing wrong with having 5 CB's, but there is also nothing wrong with having 4.

Legro ahead of Andrade! You didn't leave a space for a logical discussion.
A logical discussion? You want to discuss what exactly? That you would pick a player that has played 4 ordinary games for us ahead of a player that has consistently proven himself over a course of an entire season?

There isn't much to discuss. Legro earned his spot with his hard work. Andrade, unfortunately, did not prove himself because of the injury.

Juve Rev, I agree with most of your points but the current CB situation is not very reassuring...4 CBs are enough if they are proven top-class, CL worthy players...and Chiellini/Melleberg are the only 2 that have exhibited that kind of quality...if we could get another quality CB, then that would be a lot more comfortable...if Andrade was 100% fit, then I would have definitely thought it is adequate

I agree, my point is that we don't need over abundance in that department as CB's along with the goalkeeper are rarely changed over the course of a season. You would normally see the same two CB's in the starting 11 of a team for 90 percent of the season. You wouldn't typically need 5 CB's in your team although having 5 could provide extra comfort in case of an injury.

I don't think we are dire need of a CB right now as wel also have players that coould switch to CB in case of an emergency such as Poulsen and Grygera.
I just don't see the point in splashing huge amounts of cash in an area much well equiped than the rest.

We could use that money for our leftback and creative midfield positions instead of buying a 5th CB. If we could get someone cheap and good enough then I'm all for it, but not at the expense of the other two positons I mentioned.

The situation with this player is simply disappointing and annoying. Vinman said that he was damaged goods just a few days ago and i have to agree with him now.

I feel bad for the man but he is not cut for it anymore. I had high hopes for him this season and maybe he could find some of his old form and build on it. He is the most experienced defender we have ( CL, international..) but he had to get injured again.

I guess its better that it is now before later where we actually start depending on him.

This is a sign that we need ivanovic, Andrade as much as i love the guy has wasted all our transfer money, salary, and medical bills with his injuries, he needs to be replaced. We need ivanovic on loan wit an option to buy, IF secco can pull that off as well as get xabi then we would have had an extremely successful transfer campaign

I think the board aint gonna buy any replacement for Andrade, stating that we already have Mellberg....
any ways i dont think we can splash 20 on Alonso as well as buy a good defender....they are 2 mutually exclusive events...

Jorge Andrade to undergo more surgery

Bad news for Juventus and for Jorge Andrade: the Portuguese defender has suffered another serious injury to his left knee. Indeed the diagnosis of the incident, occurred on July 10th while he was training on his own in Pinzolo, is one of “kneecap fracture relapse”, the same knee bone operated on twice last season.

This was the outcome of the tests and visits the player underwent with orthopaedic specialists in Turin. A new surgery will be necessary to synthesize the bone tissue; presumably it will be carried out on Monday July 14th by Dr. Martins and his team in Lisbon. The player is expected to stay out of action for a few months.

I am sorry about him and wish him a fast recovery...but I dont think he will be able to play on the highest level again. Its always a risk to bring in a player after a serious injury. Some players can recover and be back(like Cisse), some not.
The only one we should blame is Secco with his insane transfer policy.
Many people has known that he will be a huge risk, but this fool gave the mony for him, instead to bring in a player we were interested in. To talk about the other transfers of last year is a waste of time. And now we have brought Poulsen(we dont need him) instead of Alonso or a "world class player" who can create.
Only to compare, Milan have brought Ronaldinho for 15mil(salery 6,5mil, but anyway), Arsenal Nasri for 20mil(and these players are worth that money). We dont want to spend 18-20mil. on Alonso(who is someone we could need), but are ready to give Sevilla 10mil. for Poulsen.

Everybody can make a mistake, but a good manager admits himself, if he made a mistake.
The problem is, that this cocksuckers cant learn from their previous mistakes(they bring in 5-6 average players instead of 2 quality players).
Fucking board, Im disgusted from them.:frown:
