Andrade eyes Juve Scudetto

Jorge Andrade has just arrived, but believes he can win the Scudetto in his first season at Juventus.

“I am in a club that is considered to be a giant on the world stage,” the Portuguese defender told UEFA.com.

“There is no player who wouldn’t feel proud to play for this team, for its history, tradition, trophies and the importance it has in football. I can certainly say this is a big step up in my career.”

His transfer from Deportivo La Coruna has been completed and he passed a medical at the club’s pre-season training camp.

Although the Bianconeri are back in the top flight after their demotion in the Calciopoli scandal, Andrade is hopeful they can become the first Italian side ever to win the title straight after promotion.

“Juve are a natural candidate for the Scudetto. Coming back from Serie B is, if anything, extra motivation. We have everything needed to challenge Inter, Milan and Roma.

“For me personally, arriving at Juventus is a dream come true and the recognition of my worth. I am accustomed to Spain, where the defence is always under pressure because the focus is on the attack. Now I hope to work well in pre-season training and adapt as quickly as possible to Italian football.”

The defence was the weak link in Juve’s squad last season and new Coach Claudio Ranieri personally requested Andrade.

“Competition and pressure are always going to be there, as at club or international level you must earn your place with hard work. It is what I’ll try to do so that in the future people will say it’s tough to replace someone like Andrade.”

tiago and andrade = portugal power to beat english clubs!
:D

I was particularly amused by a recent comment on PortugueseFutebol.com where someone said something along the lines of, "It's great to see these guys going to Serie A. Portuguese players have nothing left to learn in the EPL. In fact, England is too busy learning from us."
