We definitely should lean ever more on the next gen academy and system. Scout the best talent and then shape them to play our style. Export footballers from a club with a reputation for teaching them to grind and work hard.

We should in theory be able to build the best football academy in the world - we have the money and status for it.

First team signings will always be expensive because everybody hates us....but then again once our profile is raised once more players should start pushing for a move to us again.

He made some good signings. He discovered Davies and Tel, Goretzka also turned out well.

On the negative side, he handed out massive contracts to the likes of Gnabry, Goretzka and Coman when it was time to renew their contracts. And now we're stuck with the two Germans as they have no intention leaving, no club will pay them anywhere near that salary.

He signed lots of flop players like Lucas Hernandez, Sadio Mané, Mazraoui, Roca, Cuisance, Omar Richards, Sabitzer, Bouna Sarr and you could also include De Ligt I suppose.

But the list of flop players is way too long for me to miss him at all. To be fair, quite a number of these players are solid names and it was hard to predict they wouldn't succeed. But at the end of the day that's on him, also to have a fetish for Nagelsmann (buying him out from his Leipzig contract made him the most expensive manager transfer in history), then sacking him after not even 2 years. That shows incompetence and very shortsight, you knew (or should've known) what you got when hiring such a young guy.

And he was only hired in the first place because of Uli Hoeness - and kept in the job for so long also. He made some exciting transfers, like those with Sadio Mané, Lucas Hernandez and De Ligt. But at the end of the day he failed in his role.

I don't miss him, that's for sure.

Elkann didn't mention Juventus in his annual letter to the Exor shareholders. This is the first time since 2021 that Exor have not referenced their football club at any point in their annual round-up.

The hate towards Elkann/ownership just doesnt make much sense to me. Hes not in charge of signing players, coaching, or playing. When it was apparent they needed a real sporting director he hired the one that just won a scudetto. When it was apparent they needed a coach he signed off on the hot young name and ate money on Allegri’s contract. Now he signed off on canning Motta before he finished his first season. Has he blocked any moves? Seems he lets his employees do their jobs.

Hes not much different than Agnelli, the guy the majority want back who also got a lot of undeserved shit while he was in charge. The only difference is Agnelli seems to enjoy the sport a lot more. But you dont necessarily need your owner to be hands on to be succesful. Just my opinion, and would still love Agnelli back.

How is he not much different from Agnelli? Agnelli was basically at Vinovo every fucking day. He laid out a managerial hierarchy at the club which was the basis of our success. Right now Elkann hasn't done much at all.
