Valencia said NO to loan with obligation to buy formula. - Agresti

So Cancelo will not be a Juventus player. LOL

Then we have like three MF too many with:
Pjanic, Khedira, Can, Matuidi, Marchisio, Stururu, Bentancour.
I guess we could have 5 so we can switch to 3 man MF if needed but still there are too many of them.
Some ppl still talk about SMS, but in reality in Pjanic Khedira Can and Matuidi we have 4 potential starters for 2 or 3 MF spots (4231 or 433).
If we really get SMS then that is perfect MF for me - Pjanic, SMS, Can, Matuidi and Bentancour
If we wont get SMS then it stays as it is with probable departures of Stururu and Marchisio.

For the defence we have:
RB - MDS (can play LB)
CB - Benatia, Rugani, Chiellini, Caldara
LB - Sandro
Sandro is set to leave and we cant rely on MDS with all these injuries.
Cancelo as starting RB seems good to me, but we need real LB. Darmian cant fucking start as LB for us, he can be used in rotation, thats all.

For me attack can stay as it is, if Higuain is replaced with Morata we are weaker, but maybe more agile.
Marchisio is probably leaving and we don't know about Khedira, he also could go. Sturaro? The guy is an emergency option, no point in counting him tbh. There's also Mandragora, we don't know if he would be kept here as a backup for next year.

The mercato has just started so we'll see but for me SMS is not happening no matter what. Only selling Dybala could bring him to us, 120-140m for SMS is ridiculous and it's not happening. The funny thing is that Lotito will get >100m for him once EPL starts to panic buy after the WC.
So I see it that way: no proper CMs are available: let's focus on other departments and go with the 4231. Allegri is flexible enough and with proper depth we could again go all the way with the 4231. If we spend 40m on Cancelo and keep on focusing on a winger, we'll have no money left for a starting quality CM anyway.

Szczęsny/Perin
Cancelo/Cuadrado - Benatia/Rugani - Chiellini/Caldara - AS/MDS
Pjanic/Bentancur - Can/Matuidi
Bernardeschi/Chiesa - Dybala - Costa/Mandzukic
Higuain

We're pretty much stacked once Spinazzola comes back - he's the backup LB, then MDS is backup RB and Cuadrado back to RM. Mandzukic can play as backup CF then so it looks even more stacked. Squad fillers are Barzagli, Sturaro and obviously 3rd GK.

Just a lot of guessing at this point, obviously. Cancelo + Cheisa/Martial are much more attainable than SMS and that could force us to change plans which happened in the past a lot :baus:

Quick bet? Unless Pogba or Neymar is sold, no team will pay more than 80m for Milinkovic-Savic.

That's a horrid formation. We would be steamrolled in CL again. We need a proper 3-man midfield, and both Higuain and Dybala ain't functioning in that system.

La Stampa today say that Juventus are maintaining contacts with Valencia for Cancelo.

GOAL today say that Valencia rejected Juve's proposal to loan Cancelo with an obligatory redemption. They want to permanently sell him. The parties are still negotiating.

maybe juve is procedingh with this deal because something happened with sandro?

this deal is kinda expensive for being out of the blue
Yes, i think so.

I think we will strongly pursue him if/once Sandro is sold.

Unfortunately this seems like the most possible scenario. Hopefully we get at least 60m eur for Sandro.

Negotiations between Juventus and Valencia are at an advanced stage for Cancelo. The player refused a move to Wolves.

Do u know if this guy is reliable?

I don’t think us going for him has anything to do with the Alex Sandro situation. We were close to signing him last season, there’s no doubt we would be keen to try for him again once it became clear Inter wouldn’t sign him.

Hopefully you are right. having him and Sandro as RB and LB would be a huge upgrade to our team.

Would definitely be great if that's the case, i'd rather have both tbf.

Cancelo only works in a 5 man defense, he can't defend, but with so many CBs, we can afford to play with 3CBs again...
Our effort to loan him with an obligation to buy, means that we are pleased to meet his 40mil price tag, but keep some cash for Darmian too.
As for Sandro, at this point it seems that he is staying this year, he will either extend or leave as a free agent next season...

He played in Inter in 4 man defence and it worked.

He cant, as he wont be a free agent next season, his contract is until 30.06.2020.
Agree with the rest though, I`m not that excited about Cancelo, and to see a back three again... Dont know, I wish we dont use a wing-back type of system, be it 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 or something similar, but then again, if Max makes it work and tick, I dont care how the players are alligned and positioned on the field.

June 2019, next summer will be in his last year, yet players can buy their last year of contract and leave, courtesy of Platini...
It depends on the contract he sets and he will get quite a hefty one for sure. Hopefully we will convince him to extend, we are trying and as long as ManUn is not pushing for him, we might make it!
