Juve are back in Europe, locking horns with the best teams, gracing the most glamorous stadiums, travelling all over the continent. And this time backed by the strength and endurance of Jeep. The Bianconeri’s hectic schedule means they can’t make the journey in the comfort of these vehicles themselves of course, but others are doing it in their name. The “Jeep Champions Tour” is the trip that every Juventino dreams of.
Two Jeeps set off from Turin this morning en route for London: a four-door Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and a luxury Grand Cherokee. Over 750 miles to cover in less than two days, before pulling up outside Stamford Bridge in time for kick-off. An exhausting journey? With Juve passion as your fuel and Jeep’s power as your engine, the miles are eaten up in no time.
That’s exactly what Massimo Zampini and Maurizio Pezzuco have packed into their luggage as they take to the road on a fantastic adventure. Both were born in Rome, both are lifelong Juve fans and from today they’re burning rubber together as they head north to London.
Zampini, 37, a lawyer by day, is a well-known figure among the Bianconeri faithful. His devotion to the black and white stripes shines through when he moonlights as a TV presenter and pundit. He is also a successful writer, having recently penned “Il gol di Muntari - Storia dello scudetto più bello di sempre” (Muntari’s Goal – The Story of the Best Scudetto Ever”), a book which has already achieved cult status among the fans.
Pezzuco is eight years Zampini’s junior, but no less fanatical about Juventus. A financial journalist with an expert knowledge of sports and cars, he jumped at the chance to embark on this enterprise.
Massimo and Maurizio will take turns at the wheel of the Wrangler while telling the tale of their journey via the web – firstly through the eyes of Juventus fans and secondly as car enthusiasts and Jeep lovers in particular.
From Juventus Stadium to Reims, from the Bianconeri castle to the chateaux of the Loire. That’s the itinerary for Day 1, which naturally includes an off-road stretch so they can experience the Jeep’s handling on dirt roads. Tomorrow it’s departure at dawn, up to Calais to board a ferry for Dover and on to London in the afternoon.
Just in time for the big match. Then, once the engines are switched off, Massimo, Maurizio and 14 million other fans can concentrate on cheering on their beloved team!
