If Marchisio is injured he will play in his role
When Bonucci is injured / suspended he can play Bonucci's role
When Khedira is injured / suspended, Marchisio can play mezzala and Mascherano can play DM.

If he performs better than one of those three he can take a starting spot from one of them.

He always plays DM in NT even nowadays. We aren't gonna pay 20m, It would be between 12-15m.

Of course they are, he's an important player for them who they don't want to sell. Might be a difficult transfer to push through if the player doesn't actively push for the move which I doubt.

If it has to be one of Mascherano or Pjanic, I'd much rather get Pjanic. Mascherano is good but his passing, vision and creativeness are not that good.

20m is a bit excessive. It's eating into the idea of making a bigger monetary signing ala Pjanic or Gomes. I don't think Mascherano is the only mid signing we will see. And Id use the Morata money for Cavani after signing Mascherano at a cheaper fee than 20m.
