I don't really see how is he going to agree to reduce his salary by half if he was to join us. And if it's a loan + obligation, we would need to sign a contract with him.

Might be just a stop gap solution tbh, basically a loan with option to buy where United pays part of his salary and which we won’t exercise the option for unless he eventually takes a considerable pay cut next year, otherwise if it will be as an obligation formula then i can only see it happening with him already agreeing to significantly lower his wages which is rather unlikely.
