You wouldn't get it unless you were of Italian background, lived/born in Australia and have Italian nonni in Australia. Being Sicillian would probably increase the chance of getting it as well, even though I'm not. (All nonni are Abruzzese)
Italian grandmothers in Australia keep plastic on their furniture like a condom. It's a protection thing. they don't want their furniture ruined. My grandmoghrt still has a plastic tablecloth on the table so we don't scratch her 35yr old cheap wooden table in the kitchen
Pakistani grandmothers do as well. It's not that it's 'cheap' it's just that times were tough and shit didn't come cheap so you try to preserve whatever you have for as long as possible. Hell, my grandmother even used to cover her tv after each time it was used.
