If its the hole I am looking at in the stands, It looks like its only to get the large working equipment in and out of the field (tractors, mowers, etc).
I feel silly saying it but it confuses me how they're able to open and close it for further maintenance work as well as finishing it without trapping the machinery inside. How on earth does that work?

I think just a small section of the stands might be movable. They might not even have stands there at all, it might just be gated off and only opened by the grounds keepers when they need to tend to the pitch. Every stadium in the world needs to have a small part to get the equipment onto the field to mow, water, etc. I will see if I can find a pic.
I'm guessing that the 'hole' would also be for emergency vehicles. Also, they might whore the stadium out for music concerts, so that will allow equipment to be brought in. And of course, there's the rugby......
Personally I don't really like sitting behind the goal, but it would look pretty stupid if all of our highlight clips had a big hole back there instead of fans.
