I'll tell you what happened... the douchebags at the head of our football federation know fuckall about this sport. It's obvious the main contractual disagreement was regarding how much control Klinsmann had over the team, and the higher-ups for my country were not willing to give him too much control. Well good job you fucking imbeciles, you just let one of the most promising managers in world football slip through your hands because you're too afraid to hand over copius amounts of power.

These retards who represent our football in this country are obviously nowhere near experianced as Klinsmann in said sport, and I'm beginning to think they also are lightyears behind in intelligence as well. If such a manager requires that he has total control of a rather unsophisticated team, I would give him that power as it's quite obvious he will be making the crucial decisions that will enhance our credibility in the world's sport anyway. It's called the Brian Clough way of football, you goddamn soccer neanderthals. You know jack squat about this sport and I want all your resignations.

in 20 years (all hypothetical yet irrelevant due to the apocalypse in 2012) the US should be better than any of the european or south american teams

The worst news of all? According to the same reports (e.g., http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=ap-nancyarmour-120806), ESPN U.S. has gained the domestic rights for Euro 2008:

Meaning: my American comrades, we are f*cked. I'd rather spend $100 for a pay-per-view package and see all the games than the merciless Champions League-treatment we'll get of all England games and hardly anyone else.

They claim that they will air all 31 matches on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Classic, but those of us who actually watch ESPN for CL coverage in the U.S. know far better.
