Of course I did which was why I was baffled by such a low mark. Consider that this young man was making his debut, not only did he score a great goal but he tackled well, helped the play with some good passing and contolled the midfield along with Gattuso. Sandro Mazzola who was co-commentating, was also praising him, calling him a very intelligent player.

Yes, I watched the match as well, and I really liked the poise that he showed in controlling the midfield. He seemed to create space for himself, and a central pairing of himself and Gattuso is the perfect "opposite styles" pairing that Italy needed.

Question is though, where does that leave Pirlo, especially if they use a 4-4-2 formation, and assuming that Zambrotta stays on the wing?

Where does it leave Pirlo? on the bench for the time being, at the moment he's a luxary for gli Azzurri, we're struggling to win games and we must pick a team to win 3 points, not play pretty football, hopefully that will come later.

There's no point arguing with you over this any longer. :groan:

I'm thinking that the 4-4-2 is a short term solution and we'll see Zamb return to his left back role soon enough. I'd personally play a 4-3-1-2 with Gattuso, Pirlo, and De Rossi making up the three man midfield. Oddo and Zambrotta would operate as attacking full backs having free reign of their respective flanks and offering the team width.
