Still doesn't make you right about 1 game... FIGC and others have been talking for a few years now about the referees being respected and punishing players for swearing at refs, confronting refs, and so on.

What Higuain did was disrespectful and childish, and the comments made after by Sarri and others are reprehensible as well.

According to FIGC's own standards of incidents with the ref this year, Higuain clearly deserves a 3 match ban. It's not even really debatable. He pushed the ref (however lightly), he confronted the player he fouled, he had to be dragged off the pitch by his teammates as he was refusing to leave.

Meh. I've seen players do a lot worse. I wouldn't disagree with a 3 match ban, but frankly I've seen worse behaviour get punished with one game. I understand that it is vital to the game to protect the ref. Touching him should not be allowed. But there's a big difference between actually intending to physically hurt the ref or merely touching him. If we can't understand that difference and hand out 3 game bans for both, we're going to run into trouble very soon.

Not to mention, the actual video shows there is nothing in the slightest resembling a headbutt. Nor is Bonucci caught cursing out the ref, or any other such disrespectful thing.

It's absurd that some fan, taking a good angled still to make it look like Bonucci headbutted the ref, is given this much credit and it's now taken as gospel truth that Bonucci headbutted the ref all over Italy, when this is very clearly shown to be false by the video and testimony of the referee.

As long as they know that it's not legal to commit the act. These days apparently 'some' touching of the ref is allowed. Unless he suddenly decides it's not. If any touching because of frustration after a call leads to an automatic three match ban, players would change their behaviour very soon imo.

Reports in Italy suggest Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic is on a flight to London, potentially for Chelsea talks.

The English side today confirmed Antonio Conte as their manager for next season, with the Italy CT signing a three-year deal.

The Bosnian has been linked with the Blues in the past, and Tuttomercatoweb reports that the 25-year-old is flying to London today.
