3-5-2 is in our dna. We have almost always been using it, either as our primary or secondary formation. In 1998 we had formiddable 3 men backline with Montero-Iuliano-Ferrara.

It works mainly because us being able to use the width offensively more now, without playing as high up defensively as we used to do at times with Conte. Allegri prefers more deep approach in bigger games, while still being a fairly imposing possession style set up with the 2 wide CBs allways given option to play to/play ball up.


But it still remains to be seen if it can handle a top team thats extremely dangerous wide/overload the flanks, like Bayern can do, and Barca too.
