Maria Sensi slams Roma and transfer policy: Team has no soul

Maria Sensi is concerned about Roma's sudden form slide.

Maria is the widow of former Roma president Franco Sensi and is unimpressed by the current squad.

"It's a team without soul: you can always change, there is no unity among the players changing 10-11 pieces each year, they revolutionise the team too: the defence was okay with (Alessio) Romagnoli and (Mehdi) Benatia.

"(James) Pallotta? I hope that he can fix the situation but if he now leaves and comes back in March ... I wonder: who in Rome can the Roma players turn to now? Conti, Tempestilii, then who?

"My husband spoke with everyone and if anyone was unhappy sent them away, on his terms.

"(Vincent) Candela for example wanted to leave and he (Franco) said, 'If you do not play, come clean the garden of my house, you will not leave'."

Fatigue? They lost because they approached the first half (especially) terribly and their defence and reina gave away gifts.
There certainly were individual mistakes, but fatigue was an issue too. Sarri said before the game that the team is a bit fatigued currently. In the game, Napoli players were too slow to close down spaces which is uncharacteristic of them. All of the midfielders played poorly, particularly Hamsik. That's understandable because Hamsik and Allan barely got a breather all season. Insigne and Callejon up front didn't get much rest either lately because Mertens was injured.

Every time Bologna pressed and attacked, Napoli looked in trouble. In the 2nd half, Bologna started off parking the bus but were getting slaughtered (except for poor finishing). Bologna started pressing and attacking again, and Napoli looked in trouble again. They were getting beaten during transitions. Aside from individual deficiencies at the back, fatigue was also an issue.

They had a great run prior to this loss. One loss after a while isn't that big an issue for them. Main worry for them should be not having a decent backup for Allan and Hamsik. If ADL is smart, he'll change his mind about not signing anyone in Jan because, otherwise, Allan and Hamsik will get burned out.

As for us, like I said, the game vs Fiorentina will tell us how good we are. We've improved and have had a decent run, but the quality of the opponents weren't too high. For me, a top-3 spot was never in doubt, but I'm not sure if we're scudetto favorites yet. Will have to wait and find out.

Is Maurizio Sarri the new Marcello Lippi? :klin:

Also, one question for the Juventini. If Juventus fails to win the 5th consecutive Scudetto, who would you like to win it?

Off topic.. but so ridiculous that there are still Serie A teams with no shirt sponsors... Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio
They can find sponsors, but not ones that are willing to pay the amount they want. I think the thought process is that if a club accepts a lesser amount for plastering their name on their shirt than what they want than it lessens their bargaining power for the future.

For example I think Roma wanted something like 8m, and Turkish Airways offered 6m and they turned it down

That and because these are multi-year contracts, and the clubs figure they'll have a better brand image in the near future and can get a better offer the following year instead of getting tied down with a lesser amount for years.

Roma were certainly banking on it. They're still the same in Serie A, but since they advanced to the CL KO stages, they probably will get a better offer next year.

I'm puzzled that we still haven't found a buyer for our stadium naming rights.
