I was looking at his transfer the other day, Parma got him at the start of July for free, Roma loaned with option to buy for €8 mill in August. What the heck?
Just because Villa doesn't score as much as he did at Valencia, doesn't mean he isn't important to Barcelona. His arrival has allowed the system to develop to give Messi more freedom to score goals, and it showed last season as they replaced the value Eto'o had in the team.

He may have not reached the heights they expected of him. But Villa is a striker and is being played on the left of a 3 man attack, for the position he's playing, he's scoring enough goals.
Same could be said about Ibra, he didn't play in a formation or position that suits he's quality yet he manage to create and score a decent number of goals with barca.
Both Ibra and Villa had average seasons in comparison to they're previous forms.
Lamela is definitely talented, but his decision making is just too poor. He's screwed up a number of Roma attacks already, because he passes too late or makes the wrong pass.
